Helsingør Diocese seeks a cemetery consultant

Helsingør Stift seeks a cemetery consultant with a start date of 1 January 2027. The position is fixed-term for 4 years and expires on 31 December 2030.

The position is a secondary occupation.

Profile

We expect that you are trained as a landscape architect from the Faculty of Science for Food, Veterinary Medicine and Natural Resources, the Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Aarhus School of Architecture or have an equivalent approved foreign education.

Responsibilities

The duties involve advice and guidance to the diocese, deanery or parish council about the Church of Denmark's cemeteries and surrounding areas, including, among other things:

• construction and expansion of cemeteries.
• layout of cemeteries including operations management, development and preservation planning.
• Expansion or external alterations of buildings on cemeteries.
• Construction, expansion and external renovation or sale of cemetery-adjacent buildings for use by the church and the cemetery or the parsonage
• work environment for the cemetery's employees.
• Categorization of cemeteries as irreplaceable

As a cemetery consultant you shall, upon request, provide statements in matters concerning the above.

You will also be required to provide advice and guidance to parish councils and cemetery boards upon request.

The cemetery consultant also participates in the diocese's consultant rounds, where we, among other things, visit cemeteries in the diocese where a parish council has wishes or plans for a project. During the consultant rounds the project is discussed with the parish council, and where the cemetery consultant applies their expertise together with the diocese's other consultants. Approximately 4 consultant rounds are held per year.

As a cemetery consultant you act as an advisor to the church authorities according to the rules in:

It is important to note that as a cemetery consultant you must not undertake design tasks for parish councils within the diocese you are employed by, unless the diocese exceptionally approves it.

Please note that the Ministry of Health and Church Affairs expects to issue revised administrative regulations for consultation during September 2026. There is a proposal to change the consultants' areas of expertise, and the changes will therefore be significant for the upcoming recruitments. The ministry expects to adopt the administrative regulations in October–November 2026.

Remuneration

The remuneration as of 1 January 2026

• Advisory cases according to § 8 in Circular no. 9779 of 6 October 2009 on the common instruction for the Church of Denmark's consultants: 1,236 DKK per hour.
• Declaration cases according to § 7, sec. 1, in Circular no. 9779 of 6 October 2009 on the common instruction for the Church of Denmark's consultants: 1,854 DKK per declaration.

The remuneration is increased with 12.5% holiday allowance, while VAT should not be added.

The rates are adjusted annually on 1 January.
