About the job

Do you want to help implement the Defence's Operations Headquarters? Do you find organizational development exciting, and would you be a key player in making the Armed Forces operationally stronger, then here is an exciting position for you.

We are seeking staff for a new element that will implement operational processes and develop operational thinking as part of the implementation of Joint Headquarters in the Operations Staff of the Defence Command

About us

The Operations Staff is responsible for the overall planning for and deployment of the Armed Forces' units in national and international operations. The implementation element is a new unit that shall support the development and implementation of Joint Headquarters (JHQ), so that the Armed Forces are strengthened in command in peace, crisis and war.

The security-political development in Europe and the world places increasing demands on the Armed Forces' ability to operate at an operational level, including ensuring the connections from NATO to Denmark and from the Armed Forces to all other parts of society's critical sectors, including the emergency services, police, health system, transport sector and many others.

About the position

The implementation element initially consists of a small group of staff who work under direct directives from the Chief of Staff of the Operations Staff, and will develop operational thinking and operate in the staff.

The Operations Staff is working purposefully to strengthen the Armed Forces' command and control capability. The implementation element shall contribute to NATO's command principles becoming an integrated part of the Operations Staff's processes. At the same time, the element shall contribute to the development of the organization, infrastructure and the functional structure of the headquarters.

The element's task is to lay plans for the implementation and follow up on these. To coordinate between the Operations Staff's departments and sections as well as with other parts of the Defence Staff and other parts of the Ministry of Defence's authorities.

The element is also expected to become central in the development and implementation of processes for risk management and assessment, so if you have knowledge or experience in these areas, it will also be very relevant.

The position is based geographically at Karup Air Station. There is some possibility to work from home, but presence in the staff is expected most days. Since the Operations Staff is split between Karup and Copenhagen, a certain amount of travel to Copenhagen of shorter duration should also be expected.

About you

You have a relevant education, for example in organizational development, project and risk management, or other directions focusing on implementation.

We value the total amount of your skills and experience. So don't limit yourself, but tell us why you in particular can contribute to our development. Good writing and speaking skills, in both Danish and English, are also valued in the role of an employee in a higher staff.

It is expected that you can work independently and in a holistic manner, and that you thrive in a dynamic environment. You take pride in a high professional standard, are structured, analytical, persistent and take responsibility for your tasks. Finally, you are collaborative and can build good, natural relationships with our many partners.

Employment terms

The position is advertised broadly and can be applied for by both military and civilian candidates.

You will be employed in accordance with the current collective agreement.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is the possibility of negotiating supplements. The position is linked to an employer-financed pension scheme.

The workplace is in Karup.

As an employee under the Ministry of Defense, you are subject to certain special terms. Among other things, you must be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment.

As an employee you are obliged to perform duty outside the country’s borders, including at units in international operations with a view to participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, humanitarian and other similar operations.
