About the job

Are you our new inspection officer? Then we need you, who together with contractors and advisers can help the municipality's residents and commuters to a safe and accessible everyday life during the many construction works currently underway in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality.

You will especially work very closely with the contractors who are currently laying district heating across large parts of the municipality. It is expected that the district heating rollout will be completed in 2030.

As an inspection officer, you will join a team of 3 inspection officers and a district heating coordinator, all with strong professional expertise in the inspection area. The team is placed in the Department for Traffic and Mobility, and you will have 22 dedicated colleagues.

The leadership style is trust-based with a focus on good dialogue and task completion, and we place great emphasis on collaboration and helpfulness within our department and across the municipality, while at the same time there should be room for a laugh in everyday life.

We have an office in the beautiful, protected and recently restored town hall in Lyngby. Close to both S-train, light rail and part of North Zealand's most charming town centre.

Organization

The Department is part of the Center for City and Nature. In the Center for City and Nature we gather the municipality's physical development and authority tasks – from municipal and local planning to case handling, traffic and mobility, parking and light rail. The center also handles tasks within nature, environment and biodiversity as well as climate and supply, including heat, water and waste planning, climate adaptation and coastal protection. In the center we are about 110 employees distributed across five departments.

The position

We imagine that you will primarily be responsible for supervision and follow-up with the district heating rollout, but we also expect you to contribute with your expertise to other tasks in the center. In your work there will be a particular focus on conditions for vulnerable pedestrians.

You will have close cooperation with colleagues across other centers and departments. For example, our Department for Area Management, which is responsible for the operation of all municipal roads and green areas, or the Climate and Utilities Department, which has the overarching responsibility for the green heat supply in the municipality.

In connection with each excavation, the municipality issues an excavation permit and approves a signage plan, and it will be part of your job to supervise that the contractor follows the guidelines, and that the conditions otherwise are as good as possible so that dangerous situations do not arise.

As an inspection officer, your workplace is primarily outdoors – it is important that you personally assess the conditions for the road users, so it becomes their perspective that shapes your work. It would be an advantage if you have a driving licence and your own car, but otherwise Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality is a green municipality and we have a number of electric bikes that can be used.

About you

We place emphasis on you having a pronounced technical understanding, and if you have experience from previous work with supervision at a consultant, a contractor or a municipality, that is an advantage. We also expect that you:

  • have good collaborative skills, are outgoing, and at the same time can stand your ground when the situation requires it.
  • are responsible, and always follow your tasks through to the end.
  • read and understand traffic and the conditions that can affect mobility.
  • have good insight into authority work and road rules; if you do not already have the Road-EU course - The Road as a Workplace or similar, you should be prepared to obtain it.
  • have a systematic approach to documenting the work and the writing skills that the task requires.

Salary and employment terms

Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. Working hours are 37 hours per week with a flexible arrangement.

The working language in both written and spoken form is Danish.

We view diversity as a resource and therefore encourage all qualified applicants regardless of age, gender, religion, disability or ethnic background to apply for the position.
