About the job

Are you passionate about IT security – from risk management to network architecture, technical analysis and system security? Would you like to share your knowledge and experience with engaged students who will help secure our digital future? Then you might be the person we are looking for.

We are seeking a teacher with solid insight into IT security, who has a technically proficient profile and a passion for communicating complex topics in a way that inspires and engages. You will become part of a professionally strong environment where we work closely together to develop the teaching and ensure high quality in our education programs.

Your primary tasks will be teaching and mentoring in the Top-Up IT security education, which is an undergraduate-level overbuilding education, but in time you will also teach in our new Cyberssecurity education.

About the programs

The Top-Up IT security program is our current undergraduate-level overbuilding education, building on a background as a computer science or IT technology education. The program builds on the knowledge, skills, and competencies that students bring from their basic education, through a focus on IT security. The program lasts 1.5 years and includes an internship period and a BA report in the last half year.

The Cybersecurity education is a professional bachelor's degree of 3 ¼ years, where the goal is to educate students to acquire knowledge, skills and competencies within general IT security areas. In the program, students will be equipped to gain a holistic view of working with IT security in a company or other organization. We offered the program at UCL for the first time with intake in autumn 2026.

Our expectations of you

As a lecturer in IT security you will be a central part of our efforts to educate competent and responsible IT professionals who can navigate an increasingly complex digital landscape.

You will be responsible for planning and conducting teaching across a broad range, but with a focus on technical topics such as network and communications security, systems security, software security, threat analysis and incident management, and also their connection to strategic and organizational perspectives such as governance and compliance.

You will work with students who are curious, ambitious, and motivated to make a difference. Your role will be not only to teach but also to inspire and challenge them to think critically and holistically about IT security. You will have the opportunity to bring your own experiences and professional interests into play, and together with the rest of the team you will have the opportunity to shape both teaching methods and content.

The position also includes the possibility to participate in development projects, collaborate with industry, and contribute to the ongoing quality assurance and innovation of the education. You will become part of a committed professional environment where we value knowledge sharing, sparring, and joint professional development – and where there is room for both ambition and humor in daily life.

You have a relevant education, preferably at master's level (e.g., Master, cand.it. or cand. polyt.) or equivalent professional experience that qualifies you to teach and mentor at BA level. If you have a BA-level equivalent education, you will need to participate in a upskilling Master program in the first two years of employment.

About us

You will become part of the Department of Business and IT with 62 employees and 1,200 students spread across eighteen programs. We offer:

  • A position where you develop broadly and work closely with the department's other educational programs and areas
  • A daily life with great flexibility and responsibility
  • A job where you draw on and continuously maintain your contact and network with the business community
  • A varied workday with both teaching and development tasks
  • An working environment where we support each other, challenge each other and laugh together

You will be employed from January 1, 2027 and your average working time will be 37 hours per week.

Your primary workplace will be Seebladsgade 1, Odense C, but there may be meeting activity at UCL's other addresses in Odense M, Svendborg, Vejle or Jelling.

The employment is in accordance with the circular on the Agreement for Academics in the State or Circular on the Joint Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Teachers’ Central Organization and CO10 – the Central Organization of 2010 (LC/CO10 joint agreement), as well as the regulations on the job structure for teachers at university colleges, professional bachelor's programs and the Danish School of Media and Journalism . The position is covered by the principles of New Pay.

If you are hired as an assistant professor, you will enter a lecturer qualification program, in accordance with Regulation on lecturer qualification, lecturer appraisal, and docent appraisal of teachers at university colleges, professional bachelor's programs, The Danish School of Media and Journalism and certain maritime educational institutions . An assistant professor supplement is maximum 4 years.

If you are hired as a senior lecturer, we would like you to be senior lecturer-qualified according to the 2013 job structure.

If you are senior lecturer-qualified according to earlier job structures, you may, by agreement, choose that the appointment is made under the previously centrally fixed salary and employment terms according to the 2003 job structure, which, among other things, may affect the size of your senior lecturer allowance and the possibility of being appointed as a member of the senior lecturer appraisal committee.

Alternatively, you can agree on a renewed senior lecturer appraisal according to the current job structure and under the rules in chapter 5 of the Regulation on lecturer qualification, lecturer appraisal and docent appraisal of teachers at university colleges, professional bachelor's programs, The Danish School of Media and Journalism and certain maritime educational institutions. The appraisal is based on a short eight-page lecturer application regarding research and development competencies. The application must be submitted to UCL in connection with the recruitment process.

The appraisal will be decided within 3-6 weeks by an external appraisal committee appointed by UCL. In the event of a negative appraisal, employment can be made under the previous job structure or as an assistant professor.
