About the job

Intensive care nurse sought – use your specialty training, gain influence and help shape the future of the intensive care unit

Are you a specially trained intensive care nurse, and are you motivated by close nursing care to critically ill patients, complex patient pathways, and a strong professional community?

At the Intensive Unit in Roskilde you have the opportunity to put your specialty training and experience to use – both close to the critically ill patient and in the development of our professional practice, workflows and the upcoming joint intensive care unit in Køge.

We are facing some exciting years. In January 2028 we move to Køge, where the intensive care units in Roskilde and Køge are brought together under one roof in a new intensive care unit with 16 intensive beds. As a specially trained intensive care nurse you will have a rare opportunity to influence the professional, organizational and practical solutions in the future intensive care unit.

Use your specialty training – and help shape the development of the intensive care area

With us the specially trained intensive care nurse is an important professional resource.

You will have the opportunity to bring your competencies into play through clinical development, education, guidance and participation in professional work groups.

We prioritize professional reflection, including through FSB days, where experienced nurses together with our development nurse work with concrete patient pathways and the development of intensive nursing. In addition we offer ongoing further education and competence development.

Be part of shaping the future intensive care unit

The merger between the intensive care units in Roskilde and Køge creates an opportunity to develop an intensive care unit – not only physically, but also professionally and organizationally.

The new surroundings with private rooms create many advantages for patients and relatives, but also set new demands on how we organize care and treatment. How do we ensure presence and patient safety? How do we best use technology? How do we organize the staff and collaborate around the patients?

These are questions we must answer together, and here the experience and perspectives of intensive care nurses will be decisive.

The new surroundings also make strong multidisciplinary collaboration even more important. Good patient pathways are created in close interaction between nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social and health care assistants and other professional groups around the patient. Therefore we prioritize collaboration highly; for example, we hold cross-professional staff meetings twice a year together with doctors, and we already work closely across Roskilde and Køge with, among other things, joint work groups.

Who are we?

At the Intensive Unit in Roskilde we treat critically ill patients from, among others, neurology, cardiology, urology and medical specialties. The unit has 6 intensive beds, and more than 70% of the nurses are specially trained in intensive care nursing.

We place emphasis on a strong professional and collegial community, where we help each other, share knowledge and develop together – also when patient pathways are complex.

We are looking for you who

  • are a specially trained intensive care nurse.
  • want to use and further develop your specialist competencies.
  • thrive with complex and critically ill patients.
  • want to contribute to professional development and reflection.
  • want to influence the development of the future intensive care unit.
  • work in a structured way and maintain an overview in a changing daily life.
  • work holistically and involve patients and relatives.
  • value strong collegial and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

With us you get

  • the opportunity to influence the development of the future intensive care unit ahead of the move to Køge in 2028.
  • the opportunity to apply your specialty training through clinical development, education, guidance and professional work groups.
  • FSB days, continuing education and good opportunities for competence development.
  • a broad intensive care daily life with complex patient pathways and MAT function.
  • a strong professional environment with many specially trained intensive care nurses.
  • close cross-disciplinary collaboration and a strong collegial community.
  • great influence on your own working hours via the KMD Opus shift plan.

Working hours and weekend

The balance between work life and private life is highly prioritized, and you will have significant influence on scheduling via the KMD Opus shift plan.

There is the possibility to choose either

  • 8-hour weekend work every 3rd weekend in exchange for 16 extra weekend hours every six months, or
  • 12-hour weekend work every 4th weekend in exchange for 16 extra weekend hours every six months.

The Intensive Unit is part of the Anesthesiology Department, which besides the intensive area includes 3 operating theatres, 2 day surgery departments, 2 recovery rooms and 1 multidisciplinary pain center.
