About the job
Join us in shaping the future store network at Salling Group
Do you want to test your skills with analyses and projects that don’t just end up in a desk drawer – but can actually help shape where and how Salling Group develops the stores of the future?
Now you have the opportunity to become an intern in the Development Department at Salling Group.
From our head office in Køge, we work with analyzing, developing and optimizing Salling Group's store network across our formats. Here you will be part of a dedicated team with high professionalism, close sparring and a daily routine where data, business understanding and good ideas are translated into concrete decisions.
And don’t worry: With us you won’t be the intern who sits on the sidelines watching. You’ll be part of the team and have the opportunity to contribute yourself.
What will you be working with?
As an intern you will be close to some of the decisions that shape Salling Group's store network. You will gain insight into the entire process – from the initial analyses of a market or location to decision proposals for new stores, renovations and development of our existing locations.
You will, among other things,
- contribute to analyses of markets, locations and customer base that support decisions about future stores
- work with data and identify patterns, opportunities and improvement potentials across our store chains
- prepare presentations, business cases and decision briefs for management
- participate in projects within store development, expansion and optimization of our existing store network
- collaborate with colleagues across the organization – including in operations, finance, establishment and strategy
- explore how AI and digital tools can make our analyses, workflows and decision basis even better.
You will of course receive sparring along the way, but we also give you room to take responsibility for your own tasks, be curious and contribute your perspectives. Because maybe you’ll see something that the rest of us haven’t noticed yet.
Who are you?
We don’t expect you to know everything in advance – after all, that’s why you’re here as an intern.
Instead, we hope you’re curious about retail, business development and data, and that you want to find out how analyses can be translated into concrete recommendations and decisions in a large retail company.
We imagine that you
- are pursuing a relevant higher education in, for example, business, economics, innovation, retail management or similar
- have an analytical mindset and find it exciting to work with data and business challenges
- enjoy translating theory into practice and can work structurally with your tasks
- are curious, proactive and do not shy away from asking questions – including about the way we do things today
- have good collaboration skills and a desire to work with different professional backgrounds across the organization
- are curious about AI and digital tools and how technology can create value through smarter analyses and workflows.
The most important for us is not that your CV is already filled with experience. It is your curiosity, your drive and your desire to learn, develop and contribute that we are interested in.
Why choose an internship in the Development Department?
Because you get the opportunity to get up close to the business in one of Denmark’s largest retail companies.
You won’t just have the opportunity to translate your theoretical knowledge into practice. You’ll also gain insight into how analyses become recommendations, and how recommendations become decisions that can have visible impact in the real world.
With us you get
- real business challenges and projects with tangible impact
- insight into strategic decisions in a large international retail group
- close sparring with experienced colleagues who are happy to share their knowledge and experience
- responsibility and freedom to take initiative and influence your own tasks
- opportunities to develop professionally and personally
- a strong professional and social community with colleagues and other interns at the head office.
In addition you get employee discounts in all Salling Group formats, free access to the gym and padel courts at the head office, free cafeteria scheme and 15 fixed writing days, so there is room for your studies as well.
And who knows where the internship will lead? Several of our former interns have subsequently stayed on in study or full-time positions at Salling Group.
Practical information
The internship starts early January 2027 , while the specific internship period is adjusted in dialogue with the individual candidate and the educational requirements.
We conduct interviews on an ongoing basis, so please feel free to send your application and CV today.
