Introductory position in Urology, Aarhus University Hospital

Do you have an interest in surgery and would you like a specialty that combines advanced open surgery, robot-assisted surgery, laparoscopy and endoscopic surgery with versatile outpatient work, including cancer diagnostics and evaluation of benign conditions? Then urology is an obvious specialty for you. We are seeking a physician for an introductory position no. 6620-27-35-i-04 with a start date of 1 January 2027.

As an introductory physician in Urinary Tract Surgery you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with almost all areas within the urological specialty. In addition to basic urology, the department handles highly specialized functions including cancer surgery, pediatric urology, advanced urology and kidney transplant surgery. The department is also part of the Clinic for Pelvic Floor Disorders.

Urinary tract surgery is a large and dynamic department with 2 professors, 36 specialists and currently 25 training doctors. We have high surgical activity with operating slots in the adult operating theatre, the pediatric operating theatre and in the day-surgery department. There is also a large outpatient activity, with urinary tract surgery clinics daily at Regionshospitalet Randers and Regionshospitalet Horsens, covered by both specialists and trainees.

We place high importance on education, and during the introductory position you will among other things have the opportunity to participate in the MidtSim course in open surgery, the department's internal surgical courses and the mandatory supervisor course. There are good opportunities to engage in research if you are interested in doing so.

The aim of the introductory position is that by the end of the tenure you can independently perform minor surgical procedures as well as conduct diagnostic cancer workups and evaluation of benign urological conditions. You will also, under supervision, gain experience with minor endoscopic procedures and have the opportunity to assist in operations. We emphasize a safe and educational training environment, where you gradually take on more responsibility in line with your competencies and experience. There is a presence duty split into two parts on weekdays and weekends.

The appointment is with Region Midtjylland, Aarhus University Hospital, Palle Juul-Jensens Boulevard 99, 8200 Aarhus N, with on-site duties in Randers and Horsens.

Salary and employment terms in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. Employment is conditional on a satisfactory child certificate and a satisfactory authorization.
