About the job

Do you want to use your medical expertise somewhere it makes a real difference – and where the framework allows you to work systematically with assessment, treatment and follow-up?

In the Health Unit of Denmark's Prisons, Eastern District Office, you meet a patient group with a high disease burden and complex issues, often characterized by psychiatric, substance abuse-related and social challenges. It calls for clinical sharpness, a holistic view and the ability to build trusting relationships.

With us, values are more than words. We create value for patients through professional teamwork and high professionalism in a culture marked by trust, respect and understanding – with equity in health as a shared guiding principle.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to develop in general medicine, psychiatry and social medicine in a professionally challenging and different job with a varied daily life. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team with strong opportunities for sparring, learning, teaching and supervision – and you also get time for a patient group that highly values your efforts.

Why is it different – and why is it good?

In a prison, health care is delivered within fixed frameworks. It requires you to plan and treat according to clear procedures, create continuity, work with motivation and mastery – and exercise medical professionalism in a system with multiple considerations. In return you get a varied, clinically relevant daily life where your efforts make a clear difference.
