Lawyer sought for ministerial support and legislative work

Would you like to continue your career in a department within a ministry that is always in the spotlight? Then you might be our new colleague in the Legal Office in the Ministry of Education's department.

Your role as a lawyer

As our new lawyer you will join a team with the rest of the office's staff. You will receive guidance and sparring from the office's experienced lawyers and will quickly be involved in a wide range of the office's case areas. Examples of tasks:

• Drafting of bill proposals and ministerial servicing
• Handling of access-to-information cases and other concrete cases – e.g., with regard to the General Data Protection Regulation, parliamentary replies, state aid or statements to the Ombudsman
• Advice and sparring with colleagues in the office on legal questions within central cross-cutting laws, including the Administrative Act, Public Access to Information Act and in relation to EU law
• Advice and sparring with colleagues in the office regarding questions about the Constitution and Denmark's international obligations
• Contribute to policy development in the Ministry of Education area with a legislative perspective.

Currently, the work is particularly focused on a new youth education (EPX), where the legislative work is expected to span several years, legislation on the possibility of physical intervention in primary school, legislation on a ban on mobile phones, legislation on reinforced teaching and absentee teaching, etc., in primary and secondary education as well as a number of other initiatives in both the primary and secondary education sectors.

Are you our new colleague?

You have a Master of Laws (cand.jur.) or similar. We would like you to have a couple of years of relevant experience with legal work from, for example, the state or a municipality.

It is essential that you want to work in a politically governed organization with a broad scope of tasks, both general and more specialized. It is also important that you have a particular interest in the legislative process, as drafting of bill proposals etc. is one of the office's core tasks.

In addition, we expect that you are keen to work with a wide range of legal topics in a political environment and thrive with a high level of independent responsibility.

About the Office

The Legal Office is responsible for drafting all of the ministry's legislative proposals in close cooperation with the ministry's policy offices. The office assists the Minister of Education and the ministry's other units with legal advice at the highest professional level.

We are currently 12 colleagues and a manager, and all are lawyers. We have a strong professional environment characterized by both good opportunities for independence in task solving and sparring with skilled colleagues.

Salary and employment terms

You will be employed as a trainee attorney (fuldmægtig) under the common agreement for academics in the state concluded between the Ministry of Taxation and the academic organizations. There is a possibility to negotiate a personal allowance.

The appointment is as of 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The working hours are on average 37 hours per week.
