About the job
Do you want to work with a broad and complex legal field close to the municipality's projects and political decisions? And would you like to find sustainable solutions together with technical specialists, managers and politicians?
In Kerteminde Municipality we are seeking a lawyer for the Mayor's Secretariat with a particular focus on the technology and environment area. The position spans a broad and complex technical area. Therefore we are looking for someone who can create overview, translate law into practice and bring your legal expertise into play in close cross-disciplinary collaboration.
You do not need to be a specialist in every area from day one. The most important is that you have a strong legal method, are curious about new fields and eager to learn. You will not be alone with the tasks, but will have close sparring with the subjects and the municipality's other lawyers, as well as the possibility to involve external advice as needed.
Legal advice and cross-disciplinary collaboration close to practice
Your core task will be to translate law into usable solutions together with technical specialists, managers, case workers in Technical, Climate and Urban Development as well as the Property Center. Collaboration across disciplines is a central part of the task. You contribute the legal perspective, while your colleagues contribute their technical knowledge and familiarity with the concrete circumstances.
Together you will create an overview of complex issues, clarify options for action and find solutions that are legally sound and work in practice. You must also be able to make the legal frameworks and options clear to managers and politicians and contribute to translating political wishes into solutions within the legal framework.
Your tasks span several fields and converge in three main tracks
Advice on technology, environment and real estate
- Advise on, among other things, the environment, nature protection, roads, the planning area, building cases and the water sector
- Provide legal sparring in concrete cases and projects, prepare notes and actively participate in cross-disciplinary project groups
- Clarify legal and technical issues together with the specialists in the fields and translate the clarifications into concrete solution proposals
- Prepare and quality assure contracts, including for the purchase and sale of land and real property
- Provide legal assistance in the establishment of homeowner associations and follow up on statutes and approvals
Political servicing and legal quality
- Prepare and contribute to political case materials and explanations in close collaboration with the areas and managers
- Communicate the legal framework, options and consequences so they provide a clear basis for administrative and political decisions
- Quality assure case materials and decisions
- Assess the need for external legal advice, obtain the advice and, with the areas, translate it into practice and share knowledge and experiences in the organization
- Advise on general municipal and administrative law issues, including access to information
Special functions and knowledge sharing
- Perform the secretary function and be contact person for the fence inspection
- Participate in site inspections in cases of mold and indoor climate
- Plan and conduct internal training together with the municipality's other lawyers on, for example, access to information, mandatory journaling and note-taking
Your profile
You hold a cand.jur. degree and have experience with one or more of the relevant fields. We do not expect you to be a specialist in all the areas the position comprises. Instead, we place emphasis on having a solid legal method and a desire to familiarize yourself with new issues and develop your professional skills in collaboration with others.
You can translate your knowledge into clear advice that others can act on, and you are concerned with how the law can contribute to solving concrete tasks.
We value that you
- work in a structured way and create overview in complex cases
- have a good process understanding and can illuminate a case from multiple perspectives
- stand firm in your legal professionalism while also being curious about others' knowledge and judgments
- communicate precisely and understandably, both in writing and orally
- take initiative for dialogue and use collaboration with technical specialists and managers to find solutions within the legal framework
- can assess when a case requires additional professional sparring or external advice.
It is advantageous if you have in-depth knowledge of the municipal sector and experience from a politically led organization. Your experience can also come from another relevant workplace where you have worked with the fields the position covers.
An attorney community with close contact to the fields
You will become part of the Mayor's Secretariat, led by the Chief Lawyer. From January 1, 2027, the secretariat will join the Common Staff, which brings together the municipality's staff functions. The Mayor's Secretariat serves the executive management and handles cross-cutting coordination, development and advisory tasks.
With you, we will be three lawyers in the Mayor's Secretariat with each our focus area. You will have a close legal community where we spar with each other, collaborate on cross-cutting and complex cases and hand over cases internally when needed.
Your primary professional affiliation will be to Technical, Climate and Urban Development as well as the Property Center. Here you will have close contact with the professional specialists with whom you will solve the tasks. The technical and legal knowledge must work together, and if necessary we will involve external legal counsel. You will thus have both independent responsibility and colleagues and advisers to draw on.
You will get an office at the Culture and Administration Center in Munkebo, where the two areas are located, and an office at Kerteminde Town Hall, where the Mayor's Secretariat and the political level have their daily activities. The workdays will be distributed between the two addresses after agreement with you.
We offer a good collegial community with an informal tone, open atmosphere, and flexibility in working life. You have the option to choose a four-day workweek, where you would distribute the week's 37 hours over four days. There is also the possibility of home office after agreement with your manager.
Employment
The position is a permanent 37-hour-per-week role with a start date of January 1, 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Application and interviews
Submit your application and CV no later than November 16, 2026 at 23:59 . Please describe what experiences you can particularly bring to the position, and what motivates you about working with the technology and environment area in a municipality.
We will hold the first interview round on November 23, 2026. If a second round is needed, it will be held on November 26, 2026. As part of the interview process you will solve a case based on the position's tasks. You will receive more information about the framework in connection with the invitation to interview.
