Klub VIKA is seeking an educator responsible for our learning environment: ”The Kitchen” (35 hours)

The after-school and junior club Klub VIKA is seeking a qualified educator for a position where our kitchen learning environment will be a fixed and central area of responsibility.

Klub VIKA is part of Fritidscenter Brønshøj-Husum, which has the central goal of creating a strong and attractive leisure offer for all children and young people in Brønshøj, Bellahøj and Husum. In Klub VIKA we pride ourselves on being able to present a wide range of diverse activities, based on different learning environments.

One of these learning environments is “The Kitchen” where there is a focus on cooking and baking.

The Kitchen will be your primary area of responsibility

We want to create a creative and inclusive learning environment around kitchen and food, where children and young people can work with cooking, baking, tasting, senses and community.

Here the children should both acquire practical skills and participate in social communities, where collaboration, responsibility, curiosity and co-determination are in focus.

Activities should take their starting point in the children's interests and wishes, while you as an educator help challenge them, broaden their horizons and give them new experiences with food, taste and togetherness.

We expect that at minimum there are activities in the kitchen learning environment three days a week.

You do not need to be a chef or have a special kitchen-related education. The most important is that you have an interest in the area and can see the possibilities in using cooking and baking as pedagogical tools.

How the rest of the position looks, we want to be open about

Perhaps you are so passionate about food, baking and kitchen activities that you have ideas for how the learning environment around kitchen and food can frame different activities and communities throughout the week.

But you may also have another interest, competence or a particular talent, which you would like to bring into play together with the children.

It could be creative, practical, cultural, physical, technological, musical or something entirely different. If so, we are very open to other activities on the days when you do not have responsibility for the kitchen.

We have thus not predetermined how the remaining days should look.

The most important for us is that you can create activities and learning environments that the children want to be part of, and that contribute positively to the overall after-school offer in VIKA.

Please write in your application how you imagine working with the learning environment around kitchen and food, and whether there are other interests or competences you would like to bring into the club.

We are looking for you who

• are a trained educator or have another relevant education
• are willing to take responsibility for our learning environment “the kitchen” for at least three days a week
• can use activities as a basis for relationship work and inclusive communities
• have engagement and initiative that can inspire and motivate the children
• thrive in everyday life with both structure, planned activities and spontaneity
• have an understanding of children and young people’s different prerequisites, interests and ways of participating
• want to actively participate in collaborating with colleagues on the daily pedagogical content in the club

We do not expect you to come with a finished concept from day one. Instead we expect you to be curious, proactive and want, together with the children and your colleagues, to develop activities that make sense in a modern leisure and junior club.

Practical info

• The position is 35 hours/week (annual norm)
• Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis
• Start date: as soon as possible
• You should expect at least one evening shift (8 PM) per week and participation in events and camps outside normal opening hours
• Salary and employment terms follow BUPL’s collective agreement
