About the job

Re-advertisement

Do you want to help secure the legal foundation for work with children and young people in Copenhagen Municipality's Area North? Are you motivated by making a difference, and do you thrive in a daily routine where tasks span a wide range? Then perhaps you are the one we are looking for as our legal staff member for a newly created position.

About Area North

In Area North we meet the children already from their first visits by the health visitor. We cover Nørrebro, Bispebjerg, Brønshøj and Vanløse and service more than 130 day-care institutions (nurseries, kindergartens and KKFOs) and 21 public schools. As a lawyer you will thus have a broad and meaningful field of work where you can help create the best framework for children and young people.

You will also become part of a large community of about 250 support staff across Area North. Our support team spans many different professional backgrounds – including pedagogical consultants, psychologists and health visitors – and we work together to support the well-being of children and young people. You will be attached to the consultant team, where 25 consultants among others support management and executive level, internally and externally, in relation to developing the professional quality in day-care and schools.

About the position

As a lawyer in Area North you will become a central sparring partner primarily for the management of the district administration. You will have a versatile role, where you work with concrete cases and act as an adviser regarding the handling of legal matters.

Your primary tasks will be

  • handling of complaint cases – including dialogue with citizens and the preparation of empathetic and conflict-de-escalating responses
  • handling bullying complaints in collaboration with the school consultants, where you contribute to finding solutions in dialogue with all parties
  • handling of access to information requests
  • taskforce cases where there is suspicion of abusive behavior by an employee towards a child/young person
  • whistleblower cases
  • support managers and leaders in the support function regarding legal questions

About you

We imagine that you

  • are a trained lawyer or have solid experience with legal case handling within public administration
  • have experience with complaint cases, access to information requests and administrative law – preferably within the children and youth sector – and thrive with complexity in tasks
  • are strong in dialogue and able to communicate clearly, empathetically and in a de-escalating manner – both in writing and orally
  • enjoy collaborating with and advising different professional disciplines
  • are structured, responsible and have an eye for both the detail and the whole

We offer

  • an engaged and interdisciplinary consultant team with high professional standards, a strong collegial community and psychological safety
  • a workplace where well-being, learning and development are at the center
  • a thorough onboarding program and mentoring scheme
  • participation in a city-wide legal network, including sparring with other lawyers
  • good opportunities for both professional and personal development

Employment terms

Salary and employment terms follow the applicable collective agreement and within the framework of local pay formation.

The position is 37 hours per week. Employment is desired as soon as possible and no later than 1 December 2026.

In connection with the employment we will obtain a children's and criminal record check as well as references.
