Center for Acquired Brain Injury
The Center for Acquired Brain Injury's department at Sjællandsvej is a specialized 24-hour facility for 27 adult citizens with acquired brain injury. We primarily work under the Public Service Act §108 and §107.
Our nearly 90 permanent staff are a mix of pedagogues, pedagogical assistants, nurses, SSA, SSH, care assistants, occupational and physical therapists, nutrition assistants, service staff. We also have students and trainees from various professional groups. We prioritize coherence and continuity for both our citizens and staff.
Tied to the center is also the Cortex department, which provides §85 support to adults with brain injury in their own homes, as well as day centers, production kitchen and a service group.
The Citizen's Center
In Kolding Municipality we work from The Citizen's Center. This is our common approach to task solving, and it gives us a shared starting point when we need to create coherence and solutions across. A starting point where we are curious and ask questions to the citizen before we start thinking in professional solutions. We therefore take the citizens' reality as the starting point and let the system come to the citizens – not the other way around.
In this way we ensure both that citizens receive a satisfactory process with the municipality and that we use our professional knowledge in the right way. That we serve the citizens’ best – and the common good.
In the Social and Labour Market Administration, we have concretized The Citizen's Center by adding five behavioral rules that create clarity about which actions are needed in our everyday practice. We call our concretization Self-worth and Coherence.
