Lecturer in nature-based solutions and urban nature management

We are seeking a lecturer with a focus on the urban landscapes of the future for our professional bachelor program in Urban Landscape Engineering at Skovskolen.

The teaching covers planning of nature-based solutions in the city and the management of urban green spaces. You will have an office in Nødebo together with your teaching colleagues.

About the Urban Landscape Engineer education

The education for Urban Landscape Engineer is designed to train landscape engineers who can work with planning, development, construction, management and operation of sustainable and livability-enhancing urban landscapes. Our students are educated to translate theory into concrete projects and to create durable solutions that combine functionality, aesthetics and sustainability in the city’s open spaces. We have a strong connection to practice and involve the industry in teaching through field trips and case studies.

About the position

We are looking for a colleague who is passionate about communication and teaching within urban landscapes. You should be an imaginative and engaged communicator with professional background in topics such as urban nature, nature-based solutions, green planning and management of urban landscapes. Since we anchor our teaching in practice, it is a clear advantage that you have a strong network.

Responsibilities

• Teaching within e.g. climate adaptation, nature-based solutions and management of urban nature
• Advising and supporting students in their project work and study programs
• Contributing to the development of teaching materials and courses
• Participating in networks and projects within climate adaptation and the future planning, construction and management of nature-based solutions.

Qualifications may include

• Practical experience with planning and management of urban green/blue areas, including knowledge of nature-based solutions
• Experience with QGIS, AutoCAD or similar programs
• Educational background from urban landscape engineering, forest and landscape engineering, landscape architecture, urban planning, geography, environmental planning or similar engineering programs.
• Knowledge of visual communication e.g. technical drawing, layout and graphical elements
• Experience with teaching / course delivery

The position is intended to be filled by 15 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Salary and terms of employment

Employment occurs in one of three possible job categories

If you have a master's degree , you will be employed as either a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer . Here, employment and remuneration will take place according to the agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and Academics in the State, as well as according to the applicable job structure for scientific personnel at universities.

The placement is determined by concrete evaluation by expert assessors. If the appointment is as Lecturer, it will be with a view to upskilling to Senior Lecturer level.

If you have education as Urban Landscape Engineer or similar as the highest completed degree, you will be employed as a lecturer. In this case, employment and pay will take place according to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Union of Teachers and CO10 – Central Organization of 2010 (LC/CIO 10 joint agreement) and according to the Organizational Agreement for Skov- and Landscape Engineers.

For all three job categories, it applies that pay is set according to the principles of new pay, with the possibility of negotiation of allowances depending on your qualifications and experience.

The employment area is the University of Copenhagen and Skovskolen, Nødebovej 77A, Nødebo, 3480 Fredensborg as the place of service. The position is a full-time position.

You will be part of Skovskolen’s overall group of teachers with reference to the Head of Studies for Urban Landscape Engineer.
