About the job

Are you looking for an exciting job with professional challenges? Would you like to work with administrative law and health law, and are you ambitious on your own and society's behalf? Then you may be our new colleague!

About the Individual Oversight

The unit's task is to ensure that health professionals who work or wish to work in the Danish health service are suitable and professionally competent to carry out their tasks in a patient-safety manner for the benefit of patients. We make decisions on supervision in cases where authorized health professionals pose a risk to patient safety. We also handle other administrative-law tasks, such as advising other authorities, including the police and public prosecutor, ministerial servicing and citizen inquiries.

In our supervision work we have strong cooperation with foreign supervisory authorities, particularly from the Nordic countries. Our mission is to ensure a safe healthcare system. The tasks at the Individual Oversight have high visibility and current relevance. Individual Oversight consists of a legal and a health-professional section. You will be part of the legal section.

Your everyday life with us

We offer a position in an exciting and professionally strong environment, where there is an opportunity to apply your legal skills in practice, and where you will learn more about the health care world every day. We are an ambitious unit in rapid development, and we are passionate about solving our core task. We have a strong professional culture, where there is ample opportunity for sparring.

We guarantee that you will be professionally challenged, and that there is an opportunity to use and develop your abilities both in terms of effective working methods and practical case handling. Your tasks and your responsibility will vary depending on your experience and qualifications. You will also gain broad contact with the unit's and the agency's other legal colleagues and with colleagues from other professional backgrounds as well as external stakeholders, including the Public Prosecutor's Office.

It is therefore essential that you are good at collaborating and finding solutions together – both internally with your close colleagues and externally in a wide circle of collaborators. Your tasks will include:

  • Case processing related to the individual oversight, including making decisions on oversight sanctions.
  • Legal sparring with your health-professional colleagues.
  • Advising other authorities on the rules of the Authorization Act.
  • Serving the minister and the department, including contributing to parliamentary questions.

Your education, experience and personal qualifications

You have a Master of Law (cand.jur), cand.merc.jur or cand.soc in law and have a solid grasp of administrative law and an interest in the health sector. It is an advantage if you are used to making decisions or have experience from another supervisory authority, just as knowledge of health law issues or legislative tasks is an advantage. In addition we value that you:

  • Work independently and efficiently without compromising on quality.
  • Communicate clearly in writing and speaking.
  • Have an overview of your tasks and deadlines.
  • Are a team player who finds the greatest joy in the results we create together.
  • Have experience as a special consultant

We offer

At the Danish Health Authority we offer good conditions for your work-life balance. You will be covered by the agency's flexitime agreement and you will have a flexible work arrangement and the possibility of ad hoc home office one day a week after agreement with the nearest manager. We offer meaningful tasks that often have great public attention, and where you make a difference for citizens and health professionals.

You will go through an induction program and receive a basic training in the agency's supervision tasks, which will be tailored to your experience and your competences. Our working environment is informal, dynamic and characterized by a large professional commitment and mutual respect, and you will become an important part of the team both socially and professionally.

For lawyers, across the Interior and Health Ministry's group there is a network for Lawyers, which holds two network events annually to strengthen cross-cutting collaboration and provide professional inspiration. As a state employee you have the right to 2 care days per child per year. The care days are allocated up to and including the calendar year in which the child turns 7. You will be covered by a pension scheme, where the pension contribution currently amounts to 18.07% of the pensionable salary.

You will be included in a free coffee- and fruit scheme, free training facilities and a Swan-labeled canteen. We have an art association and an active staff association that arranges theater and cinema trips, museum visits, etc. We have a bicycle storage and are within walking distance of public transport. It is possible to sign up for a parking-space scheme, and there are electric charging stations. The agency has a beautiful location at Islands Brygge with a view of Copenhagen Harbour.

We are furthermore a workplace that prioritizes collaboration on the green transition.
