As a lawyer and trainee lawyer you cannot avoid that there are busy periods. To ensure this does not affect the trainees' professional development or the balance between work and leisure, we at Holst operate with what, for the legal profession, may be described as relatively modest turnover and billable-hour requirements for our trainees.

You are assigned to one or two partners

As a trainee lawyer you typically become attached to one or two partners within a broader practice area such as real estate and construction, corporate transactions, corporate and commercial law, restructuring and insolvency law, energy and utilities law or insurance and litigation.

The partners manage and coordinate your approach to assignments, so the tasks can be varied and adapted to your seniority, your interests and your experience within an area.

At Holst, you as a trainee quickly gain client contact. In addition to participating in meetings and case-preparatory work together with the other lawyers in the firm, you will already at an early stage in the training program be given independent responsibility for the majority of the case handling.

During the trainee period you can expect to become acquainted with several practice areas. Whether this happens through an actual rotation or through ongoing adjustment of your tasks, it is agreed in dialogue with your responsible partners, but in all cases it is ensured that you as a trainee receive a broad and versatile legal education.

You will receive supplementary teaching along the way

As a trainee lawyer at Holst, the three-year training to become a lawyer includes not only the Danish Bar Association's mandatory trainee courses and the mandatory continuing education.

As a trainee lawyer at Holst, you also get, among other things

• the opportunity to participate in courses with relevant course providers at your own request or at the invitation of partners and colleagues
• the opportunity, within an agreed scope, to take university coursework
• the opportunity to participate in after-work meetings for all staff, where external or internal specialists go in depth on a selected legal topic
• participation in our biannual Holst knowledge days with both external and internal speakers

We also view positively that trainee lawyers themselves seek additional educational opportunities, and among other things many of our trainee lawyer positions involve teaching at the university.
