About the job

Do you want to help strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure and make Danish society more robust and secure in light of the serious threat and risk landscape? And are you interested in working with complex issues at the intersection of expertise, policy and international relations?

The Ministry of Civil Protection and Emergency Management is seeking an engaged caseworker for the Office for Critical Infrastructure.

About the Ministry of Civil Protection and Emergency Management

The Ministry of Civil Protection and Emergency Management, in close cooperation with the responsible sectors, is responsible for preventing, resisting and handling major accidents, crises, disasters and other events that challenge the fundamental functions of society – whether it is a cyberattack, sabotage, espionage or extreme weather events that hit. The ambition is to align preparedness, crisis management and resilience across sectors so that our society stands stronger – both in everyday life and during crises.

The ministry consists of the department and two professional agencies: The Agency for Civil Protection and Emergency Management and the Danish Emergency Management Agency.

Your role and tasks

As a caseworker in the Office for Critical Infrastructure you will be part of a professionally strong office that works with cross-cutting protection of physical critical infrastructure in Denmark, including critical underwater infrastructure, cooperation with business on societal security and preparedness, as well as a number of the ministry’s international cases.

The office works, among other things, with cases across the EU, NATO and Nordic cooperation. You will therefore have the opportunity to work with both national and international issues in an area that is in rapid development.

The tasks are tailored to your competencies, experiences and interests. You may, among other things, end up working with:

  • Ministerial services, including the preparation of decision briefs, notes and other material.
  • Case handling and coordination of complex cases, e.g. government affairs, across authorities and sectors.
  • International cases, including EU-, NATO- and Nordic cooperation.
  • Contribution to legislative work, political agreements and implementation of new initiatives and EU rules.
  • Cooperation with relevant authorities, organisations and companies on the protection of critical infrastructure.
  • Other tasks that support the office’s overall task execution.

About you

You have a relevant academic education, e.g. cand.jur., cand.scient.pol., cand.pol. or another relevant social science education. We would like you to have experience with case handling – ideally from a ministry or another part of the central government.

In addition, we emphasize that you

  • Are a good colleague who actively contributes to a good working environment and takes responsibility for joint task execution.
  • Are professionally strong, curious and eager to understand complex issues and translate them into concrete decision proposals.
  • Work in a structured and independent way and at the same time have an eye for when a case requires coordination or sparring.
  • Have good collaboration skills and thrive on working with colleagues across offices, authorities and sectors.
  • Know or are willing to learn about societal security and emergency preparedness.
  • Can maintain an overview and deliver high quality, even when pace is high and deadlines are tight.

Terms of employment

Employment and remuneration are in accordance with the then-current agreement between the state and the Academic Confederation (AC collective agreement), and placement will as a rule be as an administrative professional. With the right profile, placement can be as a specialist or senior consultant.

The position is full-time.

Expected start date is 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

It is a condition of employment that you can obtain security clearance.

The employment area is the Ministry of Civil Protection and Emergency Management with its associated institutions.

The workplace is currently the department, Slotsholmsgade 12.
