About the job
A long-term threat to Denmark's and Denmark's allies' security. A number of other states, do you work well in an environment with changing tasks, and will you contribute to the security of the Danish Realm? Then you may be the student assistant we are seeking in PET’s Department for Counter-Espionage.
The threat from foreign states' intelligence activities against the Danish Realm has become more pronounced and broad. The Russian intelligence services are working specifically to support Russia's intention to change security structures in Europe, including by carrying out espionage, sabotage and influence operations. At the same time, China's intelligence activities, including those of Iran, also carry out intelligence activities contrary to Danish security interests. On the basis of the sharpened threat picture, we at PET have strengthened our counter-espionage efforts in recent years.
PET’s Center for Analysis and Outreach (CAO), which is located in PET’s Department for Counter-Espionage, is now seeking student assistants. It is CAO’s task to ensure that PET always has an updated intelligence picture of the key trends in the threat from foreign states. CAO handles both analytical tasks and outward-facing, communicative functions. As a student assistant in CAO you will have responsibility for both routine tasks and more complex tasks. Your everyday life will be characterized by a work environment with high confidentiality, varied tasks and high professional demands.
As a student assistant in the Center for Analysis and Outreach your tasks will include
- Contribute to written intelligence products (e.g., threat assessments, intelligence assessments, etc.)
- Contribute to policy inputs
- Monitoring tasks and updating databases
- Data processing in connection with the preparation of larger analyses
- Coordination and administrative support of partnership meetings
- General administrative support for the center
- Ad hoc tasks
Who are you?
We imagine you are pursuing a social science or humanities education and have knowledge of or an interest in intelligence work. In addition, we emphasize that you:
- are keen to work with counter-espionage
- have good written skills and a solid grasp of correct grammar and spelling
- have solid analytical skills and experience with e.g. data processing of larger datasets
- can maintain an overview in a changing world where there are sometimes many tasks, a lot of responsibility and a lot of information that cannot be shared with the outside world
- have good English skills.
Finally we value that you are prepared for and understand that the nature of the work in some cases may require work outside normal working hours. In addition, we are looking for a colleague who values the social community within the center.
Make your everyday life one that never becomes routine
As an employee at PET you will be part of a daily life characterized by tasks that do not exist elsewhere, and every day offers new challenges that did not exist yesterday. We are very different, and therefore we can make a difference. It is about who you are and what you contribute.
Although our work is shaped by the seriousness of the higher purpose, the tone is informal, and you will experience a unique camaraderie across departments and disciplines. We have a daily life that never becomes routine, and you can have that too.
PET achieves operational results through relationships both inside and outside the fence. We therefore place emphasis on your ability to create and maintain relationships with people from very different backgrounds.
In PET we also place high value on certain personal competencies. These are competencies that we believe are essential for all PET employees regardless of professional background. We do this because it is important to us that we find the right match. You can read about the competencies here www.pet.dk/job.
Employment terms
Employment starts as soon as possible or no later than 01-12-2026. You can read more about PET's entire recruitment process at www.pet.dk/job.
An employment relationship in PET must be treated with discretion, which you as an applicant should be aware of. This means that you can generally tell close and confidential relations that you trust that you have applied for a position in PET, but not what the job entails. For recruitment discretion, you should also be careful about which information about yourself and PET you may handle in AI-systems.
It is a condition for employment in PET that you can be security cleared to Top Secret, and you must be able to maintain the security clearance throughout your employment. As a security-cleared employee, you are expected to be particularly mindful of your confidentiality regarding classified information.
You will be employed on collective bargaining terms in accordance with the agreements between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).
Your workplace will be at Klausdalsbrovej 1 in Søborg, right beside Buddinge station, where both S-train and bus come to the door. In PET we work with internal systems and confidential tasks, and therefore we come to work every day to solve our tasks.
