Molecular Biologist for Clinical Genetics, Vejle, SLB

Clinical Genetics in Vejle is looking for an engaged and professionally strong molecular biologist with an interest in genetic diagnostics. This is a fixed-term position for the period from January 1, 2027 to and including December 31, 2027.

About the department

Clinical Genetics in Vejle handles – in collaboration with the department at Odense University Hospital – genetic counseling and diagnostics of hereditary diseases in the Region of Southern Denmark.

The department has about 60 dedicated staff and consists of both outpatient and laboratory sections. We provide genetic counseling to around 4,500 patients annually, covering both classical genetic issues and oncogenetic problems.

The laboratory is DANAK-accredited, performs nearly 6,000 analyses annually and works with both molecular and cytogenetic methods. We use a wide range of technologies – including whole-genome sequencing on the PacBio Revio platform.

We actively contribute to the development of the field and focus on high quality in both diagnostics and patient care. As part of the national strategy for personalized medicine, we work with whole-genome sequencing and interpretation of data for relevant patient groups in our catchment area.

The department has a two-tier leadership with a chief physician and a chief bioanalyst and is characterized by a high degree of joint influence, responsibility and strong interdisciplinary collaboration.

Your qualifications

We expect that you

• have a degree in molecular biology, biomedicine or equivalent
• have experience with basic DNA techniques, short-read and/or long-read sequencing
• can work in a Linux environment
• have experience with SRS/LRS data processing, including use of existing scripts
• have experience with variant classification, including querying relevant variant databases

In addition, we value that you are responsible, energetic, flexible and development-oriented, have good collaboration skills and work with a patient-focused approach.

Salary and terms of employment

The region is obliged to inform you of the starting salary for the position. You will be informed of base pay, centrally set allowances and pension in the collective agreement between Danske Regioner and Lægeforeningen.
