About the job

Are you freshly graduated, in the process of completing your master's degree in law, or are you a more experienced lawyer? Do you want an exciting career where you use your legal knowledge in practice, take responsibility from the start and work with skilled and dedicated colleagues? Then seize the opportunity to obtain a meaningful job in a strong legal environment where ambition and collaboration are top priorities!

Your tasks at Nævnenes Hus

In a democratic rule-of-law state it is natural that disagreements about law or facts arise between citizens, companies and authorities. The independent, court-like boards that Nævnenes Hus's Secretariat serves contribute to solving these disagreements within their areas of competence.

Nævnene therefore play an important role in the Danish legal system as they contribute to safeguarding the rule of law and to building trust between citizens, businesses and authorities. As a jurist in Nævnenes Hus you will prepare and draft decisions for the boards so they can make correct decisions in due time. At Nævnenes Hus there is an opportunity to try your hand at a wide range of legal areas and work in depth with the law within specific areas.

In Nævnenes Hus, which is an agency under the Ministry of Industry, currently about 160 lawyers and around 30 law students are employed. Nævnenes Hus's Secretariat serves 18 court-like boards in the form of both appeal boards, disciplinary boards and private law dispute boards. In addition, the agency is responsible for an administrative appeal body and a mandatory mediation body.

We are currently seeking staff primarily for one of our two areas of expertise, Planning, Building & Economy. If you have experience with or an interest in our other area, Environment & Energy, you are also welcome to apply.

You can read more about the specific tasks of the areas here

Planning, Building & Economy

The area consists of four teams that together handle the secretariat services for 11 independent court-like boards, the Building Complaint Unit and the Mediation Team for Consumer Complaints.

The many different boards and units provide a broad legal field. We work, among other things, with planning and building law, consumer law, property law, mediation and corporate law and handle disputes, disciplinary cases and complaints about authorities' decisions. In addition, we have a larger unit that handles complaints about access to documents under the Public Administration Act, the Freedom of Information Act and the Environmental Information Act.

The work thus ranges from complaints about municipalities' decisions under planning and building legislation to handling consumer complaints and commercial law cases. The broad professional area means that there are good opportunities to work with different legal issues and to develop one’s professional skills across legal areas.

Environment & Energy

The area consists of four teams that serve the Environmental and Food Appeals Board, the Planning Board and the Energy Appeals Board. These teams handle complaints about decisions made by municipalities and state authorities in areas such as nature, environment, planning, energy, agriculture and food. In addition, the area handles a large number of cases concerning green transition.

If you have questions or want to hear more about everyday life and the different areas, contact team leader Camilla Distler Lützner at tel. 72 40 58 38 or team leader Katrine Stærdahl Vad at tel. 72 40 59 91.
