The Nature Agency Wadden Sea is seeking a forest ranger with government housing in the Stursbøl Plantation near Jels.

About the job

Nature Agency Vadehavet manages and maintains about 15,000 hectares of state-owned forests and other natural areas in Southwest Jutland. You will be employed as a forester, and thus with a service residence in Stursbøl Plantation. As a forester you will have a trusted position with a special supervision obligation in your local area. In addition, your duties will be spread across all areas of the unit.

In the summer season your tasks will be linked to the many visitors in the state forests, where Nature Agency provides many facilities for visitors, such as tables, benches, camp huts, shelters, fire pits, marking posts, information signs, toilets and much more. Operation and maintenance of these facilities will be part of your duties, just as maintenance of hiking trails, riding trails and forestry roads will be. Larger tasks that require more people are carried out in cooperation with colleagues from the unit's operations group.

In the winter season you will carry out vegetation management, planting, felling and similar tasks in the forest, but there may also be tasks in the open nature, such as fence setting and clearance.

Your profile

We expect that you are trained as a forest and nature technician, or have an equivalent education.

Specifically we would like to see that you

• Have solid experience with forest work, operation of natural areas such as meadows, heath and moorland, and have knowledge of the dynamics in fresh rivers and lakes.
• In addition to the classic competencies as a forest worker (which are crucial), it would be an advantage if you have other special professional or personal competencies, for example a supplementary craft education, exposure to further education, or completely different and somewhat quirky competencies.
• Have a good teamwork sense, which means your colleagues can rely on you in daily task solving.
• Are a good colleague who always brings the best version of yourself to work.

Your workplace

You will have the Southwest Jutland as your working area, and your workplace will be based from the machine yard in Hønning Plantation Arnumvej 65b, Toftlund.

Salary and terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the current Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Public Employees’ Organization – the State Sector, as well as the current organizational agreement for gardeners, animal keepers, foresters and nature technicians, etc.

It is a requirement that you have a driving licence.

The position includes a well-maintained service residence with occupancy obligation. The residence is beautifully located in Stursbøl Plantation, and has the address Stursbølhus, Klovtoftlundvej 3, 6560 Sommersted.

The average weekly working time is 37 hours. There may be working hours outside the normal time, and on weekends.
