About the job

Do you want to make a difference for people with complex psychiatric issues? With us you become part of a strong multidisciplinary community where professionalism, development and good patient relationships go hand in hand.

Do you want a meaningful professional life where you can utilize your nursing competencies in a multidisciplinary community for the benefit of psychiatric patients? At Psychiatric Ward 4 you will have the opportunity to work cross-disciplinary and cross-sector in both acute and longer-term pathways for patients with psychotic disorders. In addition we have subspecialties in dual diagnosis treatment, admission for treatment and surrogate guardianship, hence the interaction between colleagues and cross-sector collaboration is essential to succeed with the good coherent journeys.

We are currently seeking nurses for 2 permanent positions at 37 hours from January 1, 2027 or by agreement. We are undergoing a major reorganization and will in this context expand headcount. The reorganization does not change our target group or specialty, but means that all core wards going forward must receive their patient group in their own ward. At the same time we are integrating with somatics to ensure better treatment of psychiatric patients with somatic comorbidities.

Psychiatric experience is an advantage but not a requirement – the most important is that you want to work nursing professionally, are engaged and curious about people. In the department we actively work with ongoing competence development and reflect daily multidisciplinary on ethical or professional dilemmas.

If you would like to meet us and hear more about the position, do not hesitate to contact us!

Who are we?

In Psychiatric Ward 4 we specialize in observation, assessment and treatment primarily of schizophrenia and acute psychoses. Our subspeciality is dual diagnosis treatment and admission for treatment as well as surrogate guardianship. The ward has space for 14 patients aged 18 and over. You will meet people with complex issues that require an individual approach, where your creativity is challenged and offbeat solutions can be the way forward.

We work with both short patient pathways where the relationship must be established quickly, but also longer pathways. With us you will meet patients from all social strata and with all forms of problems.

Who are you?

We want you to be able to maintain an overview in acute situations. Can actively participate and professionally in alarm situations. You can work purposefully and structured. Have flair for creative and innovative approaches to patients. You are curious and respectful of other people. You are professionally engaged and interested in contributing to the department's development.

Good colleagues make the difference

We are a mixed staff group with different professional backgrounds and training - both newly graduated and experienced colleagues. We welcome new colleagues with different experience than from psychiatry. We believe that our different professionalities and experiences provide good collaboration when we solve various challenges cross-disciplinarily. With joint reflection we find an individual path for the patient and with us you are never alone with a difficult decision.

We prepare you for the job

We have an onboarding process where you are thoroughly introduced to the work in the ward. There will be up to four weeks of buddy training and a mentorship program. In the first four weeks you will be an extra colleague so we have time to properly introduce you to the tasks. There will be planned courses in communicative de-escalation, conflict management course, psychopathology and introductory course to the organization. In addition, psychiatric driving license. We prioritize in the department the possibility of personal competence development.

Opportunity for further education

There is possibility in time to apply to start e.g., a specialist education, though the following entry criteria must be met (if not from the start, they can be obtained with us):

  • Completed Danish or foreign nursing exam at bachelor level or other Danish or foreign nursing exam as well as science theory and method at diploma level or equivalent
  • Danish authorization as a nurse
  • At least 2 years of clinical experience from full-time employment within psychiatric nursing
  • Agreement with the employer on 1.5-year further education

In general we have a strong focus on upskilling our staff and engage in dialogue about it.

Patient involvement

Patient involvement is important to us, and we have therefore asked our patients what they value in meeting their contact person. For them it is important that you can hold space for their suffering, listen and instill hope of a positive change in their path forward in life.

Flexible schedule

We use MIN PLAN to make the work schedule as flexible as possible for the individual. Currently there is a desire to work every 2nd weekend in 8-hour shifts or every 3rd weekend in 12-hour shifts. But we are currently working in the organization to reduce night work in inpatient wards in the future. At the interview you will be asked to indicate at least two shifts and have the opportunity to request either every other weekend or every third weekend. With MIN PLAN you can influence your own work plan so that work and family life are balanced for you.

Daily life at Psychiatric Ward 4 written by staff

On a typical day in our ward you will be the contact person for 3-4 patients. There may be ward rounds or more informal social interactions, where you as contact person work with psychoeducation and Safeward in a safe environment.

You will be responsible for medication administration and support your patients with coping with their specific problems. We use different safety-enhancing methods e.g., NADA and our "Calm Down-box" with non-pharmacological measures. We focus on individual action plans, developed in collaboration with the patient.
