About the job

Gribskov Special Kindergarten and Horisonten Special School, Ramløse division, is seeking an occupational therapist for multidisciplinary work with children and young people with extensive support needs

We are expanding the division in Ramløse and therefore seek an occupational therapist to work in our special kindergarten and special school.

You will be part of a department where we work multidisciplinary to create the best conditions for the children's learning, well-being, participation and development.

As an occupational therapist you contribute with your health professional knowledge about the body, senses, motor skills, activity and participation. At the same time you are an active part of the pedagogical work around the children, and you naturally participate in everyday activities, play, learning and communities together with the other staff. We see therapy and pedagogy as mutually supportive efforts that together strengthen the children's opportunities for development and participation.

Across professions therapists, pedagogues, psychomotor therapists, teachers and teaching assistants work closely together to create the best opportunities for the children's development, well-being and participation at our department. The multidisciplinary collaboration is a central part of our practice and forms the framework for daily work. You will therefore be part of the staffing norming and participate in the pedagogical work on an equal footing with the other professional groups.

The occupational therapy position is largely attached to our special kindergarten, but you will also have duties in the special school. You should thus be willing to work across, while also wanting to be part of a fixed team, where you work multidisciplinary with the children's development in the special kindergarten. You and an occupational therapy colleague will take on part of the treatment efforts in the special kindergarten while also solving specific training/treatment tasks in the school. There are good opportunities for professional development and sparring, both pedagogical and therapeutic.

We highly value experience from the specialized pediatric field, and it is an advantage if you have knowledge of and experience with children within the autism spectrum.

Who are we?

  • We are a special kindergarten and a special school located on the same site in scenic surroundings in the small village of Ramløse, within walking distance to Arresø and 10 minutes by car from Helsinge. The special kindergarten and special school have joint leadership and are part of the specialized kindergarten- and special school provision in Gribskov Municipality under Horisonten.
  • Our children and pupils are characterized by significantly reduced intellectual functioning levels and notable social-communicative and language difficulties. They therefore require close and continuous support that combines special pedagogy with knowledge of senses, motor skills and development. Our children and pupils may also need help with self-care and personal hygiene.
  • We create predictable and structured play and learning environments where activities, teaching and support are continuously adapted to each child’s conditions and needs.
  • Teamwork is close, multidisciplinary and characterized by shared responsibility for the children's well-being, development and learning, as well as close and ongoing cooperation with parents, advisors and PPR.

Your tasks

As an occupational therapist you join as an integrated part of the multidisciplinary effort around the children. Your professional knowledge is used both in targeted therapeutic efforts and in everyday activities, where development, learning and participation are supported in collaboration with colleagues.

As an occupational therapist you will especially

  • Support the development of sensory, cognitive and practical skills so the children have the best possible prerequisites for engaging in learning and communities.
  • Carry out occupational therapy observations and assessments and translate these into concrete pedagogical and therapeutic interventions.
  • Work with sensory integration, attention, structure and regulation as support for well-being and development in the pedagogical work with the children.

Who are you?

  • You are a trained occupational therapist.
  • You are willing and eager to be an active part of the children's everyday life and contribute to their well-being, development and learning.
  • You are strong in your professional field and can translate your knowledge into practice in close collaboration with your colleagues.
  • You see value in combining therapeutic and pedagogical work around children with special needs.
  • You have knowledge of children's development, motor skills, sensory regulation, participation and mastery of everyday activities and can translate it into practice.
  • You preferably have experience with children on the autism spectrum and special education methods or a willingness to acquire this knowledge.
  • You can see yourself in both smaller groups of children and in individual programs for children who need special support in both the special kindergarten and in the special school.
  • You are clear, calm, patient and appreciative in your interactions with children, parents and colleagues.
  • You have good humor and a desire to contribute positively to the department's continued development.

We offer

  • An exciting position where therapeutic and pedagogical practice go hand in hand in a strong multidisciplinary environment.
