About the job

Are you ready to transform an art collection into a fascinating story? Are you excited to engage school classes and younger children as well as adults in art and culture? Museum Ordrupgaard is seeking docents/teachers who are passionate about giving our visitors excellent experiences.

About the position

At Museum Ordrupgaard you will be part of a team where learning and teamwork are in the forefront. We value an environment where good collegiality and engagement are the foundation. Your working hours will vary, depending on bookings, with the opportunity to conduct 1-3 tours per week – sometimes more when we are busy. A fixed honorarium is paid for each tour and teaching program.

Note that a criminal record check and a child protection check will be obtained for all docents/teachers.

What we offer

  • Good opportunities to apply your professional knowledge in practice
  • Opportunity to gain experience with dissemination to many different target groups
  • An unique chance to work with Museum Ordrupgaard's exclusive collection, spanning French and Danish art from the 1800s to international contemporary art and architecture
  • A varied everyday life with fantastic colleagues in an engaged working environment

About you

You are a trained art historian or a student of art history or a similar education and would like to delve into Museum Ordrupgaard's collection of French and Danish art from the 19th and early 20th centuries, in addition to Finn Juhl's house and the park's contemporary art. In addition there are tours of the museum's changing international exhibitions. You are ready to convey art-related material to a varied audience and are happy to conduct tours in both Danish and English. It is an advantage if you also speak a third language such as French, Swedish, German or something else altogether.

Experience with tours or teaching will be a great advantage, but we are happy to train you if this is your first job as a docent.

About us

Museum Ordrupgaard is a state-owned art museum beautifully situated in green surroundings in Charlottenlund. Our collections house masterpieces across 19th-century Danish and French art with particular emphasis on French impressionism and Danish art such as Vilhelm Hammershøi and L.A. Ring. The museum also has a strong architectural profile with Finn Juhl's House, the Zaha Hadid extension from 2005 and Snøhetta's latest addition from 2021 – all only a 30-minute journey from Copenhagen Central Station.
