About the job

Do you have experience in sailing, practical operations and leading employees? And do you thrive in a daily routine where you need to create overview, make decisions and also participate in the work yourself?

Muslingeriet is looking for an operations manager who can take charge of planning and coordinating the daily operations, lead the staff and at the same time be an active part of the practical work on the fjord.

Muslingeriet is a privately owned company that works with organic farming of line mussels in the Limfjord. We are a workplace with short decision paths and an informal tone, where we help each other and emphasize that the work is carried out properly.

About the job

As operations manager you will be responsible for creating structure and coherence in the daily operations. Based on the overall production plan you plan and distribute the day’s tasks and follow up on the work together with the staff.

You must also be prepared to sail out yourself and participate in the physical work on the fjord and on land. It is therefore important that you enjoy both the leadership responsibility and being an active part of the team in the daily work.

You will also have overall personnel responsibility and thus an important role in leading and developing the employees.

You will naturally receive a thorough introduction to the company, our mussel farming, vessels, working methods and employees. Tasks and responsibilities will be transferred gradually as you learn the operations. In time you will have the overall responsibility for daily operations and personnel management, but you will not be left alone with it from day one.

Your main tasks

Your tasks will include

  • Planning, coordination and follow-up on daily operations
  • Planning and coordination of the daily production tasks, including work with fingerling retention, harvesting and sorting of fry, stringing, maintenance of line systems and harvesting of market mussels
  • Leadership and distribution of work among the employees
  • Overall personnel responsibility, including recruitment, staff development and focus on wellbeing and good collaboration
  • Sailing with the company's vessels
  • Participation in practical work on the fjord and on land
  • Planning of staffing, equipment and other resources for daily tasks
  • Follow-up on quality, progress and execution of the work
  • Focus on safety and a good working environment
  • Ensuring that boats, equipment and gear are used appropriately
  • Participation in the development and improvement of working methods and daily operations

You will work closely with the owner of the company, who continues to be responsible for the overall production plan. As operations manager you will have a large degree of autonomy and the necessary mandate to make daily operations and personnel management function.

Who are you?

Your educational background is not the most important. The essential thing is that you have the necessary practical experience, can take responsibility and are able to create overview in a daily routine where plans sometimes have to change due to weather, equipment or production.

We imagine that you

  • Have experience with sailing and the necessary valid certificates
  • Have experience from fisheries, aquaculture, offshore, agriculture, contracting or other practical operations
  • Have experience with personnel management or are ready to take the next step into a leadership role
  • Can plan the work and follow up that tasks are carried out
  • Have technical understanding and preferably experience with mechanics and maritime equipment
  • Can work independently and make decisions when necessary
  • Are clear and proper in your communication
  • Can lead and motivate different types of employees
  • Have an eye for safety, quality and employees’ wellbeing
  • Are solutions-oriented and can maintain an overview when daily life changes
  • Are prepared for physical work and to work outdoors in changing weather

Knowledge of mussel farming or other biological production methods is an advantage but not a requirement. The most important is that you are keen and able to learn the area thoroughly.

We offer

  • A central role with great influence on daily operations
  • Real management and personnel responsibility
  • A varied workday with both leadership, planning, sailing and practical work
  • Thorough onboarding and continuous handover of responsibilities
  • Opportunity to influence workflows and the future development of the company
  • Short decision paths and close collaboration with the owner
  • A workplace with an informal tone, where we value responsibility, teamwork and integrity
  • Salary according to qualifications

The workplace is Muslingeriet in Hvalpsund as well as our farming areas in the Limfjord.
