About the job

Do you want to be at the very forefront as the Navy takes its first operational steps into the future use of maritime surface drones? We now have the chance to welcome two new employees in a role in a newly established technological area where you help shape the form and the task solution. Does that sound like something for you? then read on!

About us

The Navy’s Surveillance Unit (SOE) is organizationally anchored under 3rd Squadron. We are responsible for continuously delivering a maritime surface picture in Danish waters. The security-political reality continually places increasing demands on technological innovation. Therefore we are now establishing a dedicated drone element that will help develop and implement the use of maritime surface drones.

About the position

You will join a professional and operational environment consisting of a total of 3 FTE (a team lead and two operators, where we place high value on professional sparring and mutual respect. Our daily work is dynamic and characterized by close collaboration with both internal and external actors in and outside the Armed Forces.

As our new colleague in the new drone element you will have a central and hands-on role in building the initial capacity for surface drones. The element's primary purpose is to collect practical and operational experiences during sailing and deployment in coastal surveillance, which shall form the foundation for the Navy's future expanded capacity in the area.

Since the capacity is completely new, the technical specialty is not fixed in advance.

Your primary tasks will be

  • Participate in the practical preparation, setup and operational execution of sailing with the surface drones.
  • Operate and monitor the drone's sensors and systems during deployment to support national coastal surveillance.
  • Actively participate in troubleshooting, system optimization and ongoing maintenance of equipment and support systems.
  • Collect and document practical and operational experiences for use in the further development work.
  • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOP) and workflows in close collaboration with the team lead.

The position has initially a fixed place of service at Fleet Station Korsør, but you should expect operational deployments and test activities with the surface drone across the country.

About you

We are looking for engaged and proactive employees who thrive in the role of pioneers in a completely new area in the Navy. Since we are in a startup phase, we place decisive importance on your personal motivation, flexibility, and your own view on how you can contribute to the team.

The most important is not necessarily a specific professional specialty or a particular branch background – but that you are passionate about the task and can see how your background and competencies can create value in building the drone element.

It is a requirement that you

  • Are highly motivated to work with new technologies and unmanned maritime systems.
  • Are ready to bring your background and your personal and professional competencies into play in the drone element's development and task solving.
  • Are prepared for a variable daily life with travel activity and deployments across the country.

It is advantageous (but not required) if you have experience with or knowledge of one or more of the following areas:

  • Technical savvy, including IT, networks, electrical/electronics, radio/datalinks or mechanical maintenance.
  • Sailing or practical handling of small vessels.

As a person you are solution-oriented, good at collaborating and keep a good mood – even when the technology misbehaves, or procedures must be devised along the way.

Conditions of employment

Note the position is advertised both civilian and military.

You will be employed in accordance with the collective agreement in force at any given time.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is a possibility for negotiating allowances. The position is linked to an employer-financed pension scheme.

The workplace is in Korsør

As an employee within the Ministry of Defence's area you are subject to certain special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment.

As an employee you are obliged to perform service outside the country’s borders, including with units in international operations with a view to participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peace-enforcing, humanitarian and other similar operations.

Contact and application

If you want to hear more about the position, you are welcome to contact Head of the Staffing Section Stefan Møller Rasmussen at telephone 2449 9289 or Fleet Master of the Squadron Anders Frederiksen at telephone 3050 6723.

If you have questions about salary and terms of employment, you are welcome to contact the Personnel Command, HR Consultant Sofie Gadegaard at telephone 3266 5585.
