About the job

Would you like to help strengthen FOA's member community through good conversations, strong arguments and respectful dialogue?

FOA is seeking an organizing member consultant for a fixed-term position of 2 years. You will become part of Shared Member Service, where we work with telephone member contact, organizing, memberships and retention. The role has particular focus on contacting potential members who have shown interest in FOA, or whom we assess it is relevant to engage in a dialogue about membership.

We are not looking for a classic salesperson. We are seeking a strong communicator who understands that FOA is a trade union — not a business. The task is not about pressuring anyone into membership, but about creating a good and genuine conversation about why it makes sense to be part of FOA.

About the job

As an organizing member consultant, your core task will be to call potential members and, through dialogue, create an understanding of the value of FOA membership.

You should be able to talk with people at eye level and base it on their working life, situation and needs. Some will be curious, some will be in doubt, and others may have reservations about the trade union. Your task will be to listen, ask good questions and, with proper and credible arguments, demonstrate what FOA can mean for them and what FOA can do for them.

You will among other things need to

  • Contact potential members by phone.
  • Conduct conversations about membership, professional community, rights and security.
  • Explain FOA's value in a concrete and approachable way.
  • Follow up systematically on inquiries and interested parties.
  • Register conversations and results accurately.
  • Contribute to learning about which arguments and approaches work for different target groups.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in Shared Member Service and with other relevant parts of the organization.

We imagine you

You are good with people and thrive with telephone dialogue. You can establish contact quickly, but you also understand that trust is not built through pressure. You are persistent, but not pushy, and you can maintain a conversation in a respectful way — even when you encounter skepticism or counterarguments.

It is an advantage if you have experience with outreach conversations, member contact, counseling, organizing, campaign work, customer dialogue or similar. The most important thing, however, is that you have the right approach: You must be able to motivate through credibility, presence and good arguments.

We emphasize that you

  • Are strong at verbal communication.
  • Can actively listen and ask relevant questions.
  • Can explain complex messages simply and concretely.
  • Understand FOA's role as a trade union and membership organization.
  • Can work structurally with potential members, follow-up and registration.
  • Have good situational awareness.
  • Can handle rejection and opposition professionally.
  • Are curious about people and their working lives.
  • Are motivated by strengthening the community — not by traditional selling.
  • It would be a plus if you can speak/understand one or more of the following languages: Urdu/Hindi, Pashto, Arabic, Turkish, Nepalese, Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, Somali or Spanish. But this is not a requirement.

Why the role is important

FOA organizes people who every day perform important tasks in the welfare society. Membership is about more than service and advice. It is about community, security, rights and standing stronger together at the workplace.

In this position you will have an important role in making that value clear to potential members. You will help ensure that more people become aware of FOA, understand the importance of membership and have the opportunity to become part of the community.

We offer

  • A fixed-term position of 2 years focusing on organizing and member dialogue.
  • A everyday life with many different conversations and tangible results.
  • A close collaboration with engaged colleagues across the country.
  • A role where you help develop our way of working with potential members and organizing.
  • Opportunity to make a difference for both potential members and FOA's overall organizing.

Employment terms

The position is full-time and fixed for 2 years. Salary and terms of employment are set according to the applicable collective agreement.

Salary and terms of employment by agreement in accordance with the current internal collective agreement with the possibility of negotiating individual allowances based on qualifications. In addition, there is an employer-paid pension scheme of 15%, a holiday allowance of 3% and a voluntary benefit allowance of 4%. We accrue seven weeks of vacation after one year of employment, have a massage program/physiotherapy, a fitness cellar and various staff associations.

The place of employment is FOA, Staunings Plads 1-3, 1790 Copenhagen V, right by Vesterport Station.

Application

Send your application and CV, briefly describing how you would approach telephone conversations with potential members, and why you are motivated to work with organizing in a union through FOA's digital recruitment system no later than October 21, 2026. We expect to conduct interviews in week 45. Start date December 1, 2026 or by agreement.

If you want to know more about the position, you are welcome to contact Team Leader Lasse Eriksen at 31 15 09 98 or Section Leader Neel Mark Wraae at 27 62 40 37.

We look forward to hearing from you.
