About the job

We are seeking a chief nurse for Ward S7, Aarhus University Hospital Psychiatry, with start on 1 January 2027

Are you keen to take on a leading role in the development of psychiatric nursing?

Are you motivated to work closely with a group of both highly experienced, but also newer staff members, and who are multidisciplinary? The common thread is that everyone works to improve patients' treatment and quality of life in the acute phase.

If you can answer yes to this, you may be our new chief nurse.

About Ward S7

The ward is a specialized unit focusing on psychiatric care and treatment of patients within the psychosis spectrum and often with a substance-use issue and some with court-ordered treatment.

S7 is a unit with dedicated staff who work closely together to ensure the best care and treatment for our 24 patients. Our staff includes doctors, clinical psychologist, nurses, social and health assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social educators, social worker and medical secretary. We are a training site for students from several professional groups.

Leadership team

As chief nurse you will join the unit's leadership team, which currently consists of 2 chief nurses (where you will be one), a leading clinical psychologist (and a senior physician). You will together have the responsibility to lead and further develop the unit so that it can continue to deliver high-quality psychiatric care and treatment. Together you must ensure that the operation hangs together in daily life, that the right professional competencies are available and that the work environment, well-being and safety are top.

As chief nurse you will play a central role, where you together with leadership colleagues must set the framework and professional direction for the treatment of the psychiatric patient and join AFP's joint leadership group.

We are looking for a chief nurse who

  • Has management experience, preferably supplemented with leadership education or a desire to obtain it
  • Has broad psychiatric experience
  • Has strong organizational skills and can ensure coherence and progress in the unit's work both now and in the long term
  • Is visionary and can set a clear framework and direction for the unit's development together with your leadership colleagues in the unit and in the entire AFP
  • Has the ability to lead, engage and motivate staff with multidisciplinary backgrounds
  • Can collaborate with many different professional groups and sectors
  • Is clear in communication, demonstrates propriety and an appreciative leadership style
  • Can ensure a safe and healthy working environment, with focus on competencies, safety and well-being for staff and patients
  • Possesses the ability to lead through the region's values - dialogue, proficiency and boldness
  • Is visibly present, good at following up and not shy to roll up sleeves if there is a need for it

We offer

  • Professional and personal challenges in a dynamic unit
  • Thorough introduction to the unit and your tasks
  • A good team of staff who use humor, support and sparring in daily work
  • A wide range of professional groups with which you will collaborate
  • Ongoing supervision, opportunities for professional development and development of your competencies
  • A place in a leadership group where cooperation and common goals are in focus and not just something we talk about
  • A varied everyday life with both routine tasks and new challenges
