About the job

  • Bocenter for Unge og Voksne med Særlige Behov

Do you focus on social communities and are good at building relationships? Then come to Følstruphusene in Nødebo, where we are seeking a skilled and flexible employee for a part-time position between two of our houses.

Do you have calm in your mind, an overview, and a desire to make a difference? Do you thrive with a varied workday where you meet different citizens and colleagues? Then the flying position in House C and D might be something for you.

Who are we?

Følstruphusene, House C and D, form the framework for 11 individual citizens’ homes and lives. The citizens have permanently reduced physical and mental function, live in their own apartments with shared living room and kitchen

Our goal is for the citizens to experience a daily life with self-determination and self-reliance, and the opportunity to lead a healthy and active life in community with others. The citizens have different needs and prerequisites. Some use a wheelchair or have limited mobility, some have Down syndrome with dementia, and several are within the autism spectrum. We therefore organize the environment and daily life with focus on the individual.

We work systematically with each person’s goals, with professional methods and documentation and with our respective professional backgrounds we share the core task. This means that regardless of your professional background, the tasks are broadly the same.

Your most important task is to collaborate with the citizens for as much self-determination and quality of life as possible. You also participate in practical tasks such as personal care, spreading lunchboxes, washing clothes and cleaning refrigerators – preferably together with the citizens when it makes sense. It may also involve participating in other activities with community and meaningful sensory experiences.

As a flyer you will be a flexible part of everyday life in House C and D. You will have a fixed plan spread over 4 weeks, which will show shifts in both houses. In periods where the need may change, a shift can be moved to the other house in dialogue with you. Therefore it is important that you are adaptable, curious and good at creating security – also when the workday varies.

Since this is a newly created type of position, it will be evaluated and shaped so that it works best for both citizens, colleagues and you. As a starting point, you will participate in staff meetings in one of the houses once a month and be a point of contact for a citizen.

We place emphasis on

  • being able to meet different citizens with empathy, respect, dignity and recognition
  • having good mentalization ability and being curious about the individual’s perspective, resources and needs
  • being present, listening, practically inclined and ready to roll up your sleeves

How you will work

Working hours are between 6:30 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. on all days of the week. As a rule there is weekend work every other week and you will be paid according to the applicable collective agreement. We have a local agreement that makes it possible to have shifts of up to 16 hours.

Who are you?

Your background can be varied. Perhaps you are educated as a pedagogue, social and health care assistant, social and health helper or an occupational therapist. The most important thing is that you can see yourself entering into a respectful and responsible collaboration with citizens and colleagues.
