About the job
Are you passionate about animals, and do you love being outdoors? The animal playground “Dyren” in Folehaven is looking for an engaged weekend employee for every other weekend – as well as on-call substitutes for our dedicated team.
We are seeking a weekend employee for every other weekend in even weeks – Saturday and Sunday from 12:00-15:00. In addition, we are also looking for on-call substitutes, who can be called in if there is illness or other absence among the regular staff.
About Dyren
The animal playground – commonly referred to as “Dyren” – is part of the Fritidsklubben Folehaven, where the club's children and youths take care of the animals on a daily basis. Dyren is also open to everyone, which is why there are visits from locals who live in the area.
At Dyren we have rabbits, chinchillas, cats, miniature pigs and goats.
Dyren is part of Fritidscenter Indre Valby, which consists of six after-school clubs, a junior club, a UngeVærk and UnderVærk, as well as an outreach team. The fritidscenter covers an area around Sydhavnen, Sjælør, Folehaven, Enghave and Sluseholmen and primarily receives children from the nearby schools.
Fritidscenter Indre Valby is part of Fritidsklyngen VVK, which covers the municipal 10-18 year olds’ leisure activities in Valby. The cluster consists of two leisure centers: FC Indre Valby and FC Ydre Valby.
About the position
As a weekend employee, your most important task is to keep Dyren open for the residents of Folehaven, ensure that all animals are cared for and fed, and that the area looks neat. The position thus also requires a good deal of cleaning and tidying up with the animals and on Dyren's other areas.
You must be visible and approachable to Dyren's visitors and be positive and appreciative in your relations with children, parents, and partners.
Dyren's opening hours on weekends are from 12:00-15:00. In the winter period there is no access for the residents, and the task here will therefore primarily consist of care, feeding and tidying up.
There may also be on-call shifts ongoing, which fall within the after-school club's opening hours from 12:30-17:00 on weekdays and 10:00-15:30 during holidays as well as 12:00-15:00 on public holidays and days closed.
Your educational background is not the most important, but if you are trained in the pedagogical field, it is a plus. You will be trained in knowledge about the animals.
We want you to
- enjoy animals, and feel comfortable in their proximity
- have a desire to convey knowledge about animal care to Dyren's visitors
- be willing to muck out with the animals, and be outdoors in all kinds of weather
- be outgoing and enjoy contact with both children, youths and adults at Dyren
- be able to interact with all people and handle many different situations
- be creative and good at taking initiative to develop and initiate new activities for the area’s children and youths
- be able to work independently, and feel comfortable in a sometimes busy and dynamic work environment
Employment terms
Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. Before employment, references as well as a child and criminal background check will be obtained.
The position is a permanent role of 12 hours per month (six hours every other weekend). The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
