About the job
Do you want to contribute to the further development and strengthening of the pedagogical work in the country's only high-specialized bed unit for children and adolescents with acquired brain injury? Then read on.
At the Children and Youth Bed Unit 6 at the Hammel Neuro Center, Regionshospitalet, we are seeking a pedagogical professional who can integrate the pedagogical core competencies into high-specialized neurorehabilitation. We guarantee a high professional level, a safe working environment, and wonderful colleagues.
About the department
We provide rehabilitation for children and young people aged 0-23 years who have acquired a severe brain injury and require high-specialized neurorehabilitation. We receive patients with highly complex issues directly from intensive care and pediatric departments – in some cases from their own home. At times we also have adults admitted who need the same relational and neurorehabilitative approach.
We are an engaged staff group of about 50 employees consisting of nurses, social and health care assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pedagogue, doctors, and service assistants. In addition, we work daily in close collaboration with a speech therapist, a neuropsychologist, a social worker, a dietitian, and a pharmacist. Our staffing allows us to work with quality rather than speed – and with relationships rather than routine. Here we nerd neurorehabilitation, challenge each other professionally every day, and “it depends” is often the right answer.
About the position
As a pedagogue in Bed Unit 6 you will play a central role in ensuring a good childhood for the children and adolescents who require highly specialized rehabilitation. Your work focuses on promoting the child’s well-being, supporting development, and acting as an important voice for the child in the multidisciplinary collaboration. There is a need for pedagogical core expertise as a supplement to health care professionals in order to create the best rehabilitation pathways.
Your primary tasks will be to
- Ensure that the child's well-being is central in all phases of the process, and work purposefully with pedagogical activities that promote development and quality of life.
- Represent the child's interests and ensure that needs are heard and met in the multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Support and guide children and families so they feel safe and included, and contribute to individualized treatment plans.
- Act as a link to the pedagogical institutions in the home municipality to qualify bridging and a good transition after admission.
- Work neuro-pedagogically and support the child's development and mastery within areas such as structure, identity, emotional regulation, energy management, and social skills.
About you
You are a trained pedagogue and have experience with neurorehabilitation of children and adolescents with acquired brain injury, as well as an understanding of the particular challenges and opportunities associated with it. You have a strong understanding of the importance of the child's well-being and development, and you work from a family-centered perspective with the child's needs at the center. You must be passionate about relational work with parents, siblings, and families in crisis, as parents are often admitted with the child and are an indispensable part of the collaboration.
You are a strong team player in the crucial multidisciplinary collaboration and can advocate for the child's rights and needs. You are empathetic and flexible, can thrive in a challenging and specialized environment, and are motivated to develop within the neurological and pediatric specialty. You stand firmly in your pedagogical professional field and can clearly bring the pedagogical perspective into play as the department's sole pedagogue among other professional groups. Finally, you are expected to be able to juggle keeping an eye on both children, youths, and adults in rehabilitation pathways.
We offer
- An exciting and challenging position where you make a difference for children and youths in rehabilitation, in a multidisciplinary and supportive team with professional development at the forefront.
- Opportunity for professional and personal development in a highly specialized environment with frequent reflection and supervision of patient pathways.
- An workplace that emphasizes well-being – for both patients and staff.
Onboarding and mentor
We take introduction seriously – with us you are not thrown in at the deep end. You will receive a thorough introduction to the specialty and will be assigned a mentor, who together with you and our head of specialty physiotherapist, occupational therapist, and nurse will ensure you get started well. You are never alone – neither professionally nor personally.
