Pedagogue for play and safe afternoons with a 5-year-old in Vejen

Are you interested in a task with room for both rough-and-tumble play, outings and calm moments? We are looking for a pedagogue who can create a secure relationship with a 5-year-old boy in Vejen and be with him for 5 hours per week.

About the task

The boy is good at coming up with things to do and rarely gets bored. He loves to roughhouse, climb and jump down from things. Together you can play with sand, go to the playground, visit the library or enjoy time at home with, among other things, an iPad. The swimming pool is also a possible activity.

He is diagnosed with autism and a mild intellectual disability. He does not have spoken language, but communicates through sounds, facial expressions and body language. When he wants something, he often takes the adult by the hand and shows the way. His sounds can sound angry, even though he smiles and is happy, so you should pay attention to his overall expression.

You base your work on his interests and create familiar frames around your time together. Fixed routines and pictograms help him find security in daily life. Noise and unpredictability can make him frustrated and upset, and he therefore needs you to adapt activities and help create calm.

The task also includes diaper changes. In time you may also become part of the routine of getting him ready for the night.

About you

You are a trained pedagogue and preferably have experience with children with autism and communication without spoken language.

You are attentive to small signals and take time to get to know the boy's expressions. You can remain calm when he becomes overwhelmed, and adapt the company to his need for structure and predictability.

You are eager to participate in active play and can at the same time give space to calm moments. Your presence and your interest in the togetherness are important for building a good relationship with him.

Working hours

The position is 5 hours per week. Initially, the hours preferably distributed on Wednesday and Thursday from earliest at 15:40, when the boy is at home.

In time, Wednesday and Sunday may instead become relevant. You must have the possibility to be flexible, as the family sometimes wants to combine the hours into a longer shift. There may also later be a need for help with the evening routine. The exact placement is agreed with the family.

Outside office hours there is always a staffed on-call phone, so you are never alone. Salary and pension in accordance with the National Agreement concluded between FOA and Danish Business. You are covered by DUOS’ liability and work injury insurance, and health insurance is part of your pension scheme.
