About the job

In the District Psychiatric Service Holbæk we are looking for a peer employee for one of our F-ACT teams.

As a starting point, this is a part-time position of 18.5 hours, but we are willing to discuss the number of hours. The position is to be filled on January 1, 2027 or as soon as possible.

We are fortunate to have very good experience with peer employees in our district psychiatry. It is something that has given a very special lift to our treatment offering. If you have personal experience with mental illness and recovery and you wish to use your refined experiences as part of our treatment offering, then this may be exactly the role we are looking for. You must have completed your treatment in a district psychiatry, so that you have the opportunity to help our patients in the early period after completion.

A little about us

In the District Psychiatry we work based on the F-ACT model. The F-ACT model aims to offer more flexible treatment, where we in a greater degree have the opportunity to meet the patient in his/her local environment, we have a greater opportunity to intensify the treatment if the patient becomes unstable, and in unstable phases the whole team will take on the task of stabilizing the patient.

We work with shared caseload, which means that several professional groups will take on the role of contact person and assist with help if the patient becomes F-ACT intensive. IDD is also an integrated part of our treatment offering for patients with both a complex psychiatric disorder and substance use. We are in the process of implementing Shared Decision Making as one of our initiatives to work more recovery-oriented, and here your voice will be particularly important.

In addition, we focus on how we integrate the CHIME elements naturally into our conversations, and all teams have 2 key people for recovery. So far this has been a peer employee together with another colleague from the same team. This function is therefore available now as we are missing a peer colleague.

Our two regular F-ACT teams cover the geographic area of Holbæk, Kalundborg and Odsherred municipality. Each F-ACT covers at least 2 municipalities, so you will also have colleagues you do not sit physically with on a daily basis and you will thus experience meeting the team virtually 4 days a week and one day a week everyone is gathered on the same site. Collaboration with relatives, municipalities, substance abuse centers and social psychiatry is highly valued and we have great respect for each other as well as curiosity about how we can strengthen our collaboration around common citizens even more.

You will be part of a team that covers Holbæk and Kalundborg municipalities. The team consists of several professional groups: chief physician, clinical psychologist, nurses, social educator, occupational therapist, social worker, peer employee and secretaries.

The base will be in the District Psychiatry Holbæk, but you will also have conversations in the patient’s local area.

The District Psychiatry Holbæk is part of District North, which consists of the three northern district psychiatries under Psychiatry West with outpatient units located in Holbæk, Nykøbing Sjælland and Kalundborg. District North has its own ward management with departmental leadership in the Psychiatry Hospital in Slagelse.

In connection with the implementation of the FACT model and IDD, we have been expanded and thus have gained new good colleagues. The feedback we receive from our new colleagues is among other things that we are a good workplace, as there is a high level of professional competence, great flexibility in planning one’s own working time. There is a high degree of self-determination, great respect and recognition across professional groups. That you meet with sincerity and a curiosity to get to know each other.

There are many tasks to be lifted and there is bustle, but we also try to focus on what motivates each employee and try to meet wishes for groups and other good initiatives to the best of our ability. We aim to develop cross-sector collaboration between us as a region and the municipal efforts, including social psychiatry and substance abuse treatment, in close collaboration with our social workers.

Tasks

Your work tasks will be to support the patients’ recovery process based on your own experiences of getting well from mental illness. You will have individual conversations with patients, both outpatient conversations and in the patient’s local environment. You will participate in the team’s meetings, where your voice and your perspective are as valued as those of other professional groups.

You will help facilitate a recovery group, where there will be ample opportunity for patients to exchange experiences and where there will be a focus on dreams, hope, networks, interests, and resources. We already have good experience with our recovery groups and the recovery café (Wednesday café). We are also in the process of establishing a walking group in the district psychiatry in Nykøbing Sjælland, where volunteer support will also come for this activity.

Your qualifications

Have worked through your experiences of getting completely or partly out of mental illness, that is, you have a clarified view of your own illness course and recovery process.

Have had a treatment course in treatment psychiatry, where you have experience with being attached to a psychiatric outpatient clinic. The treatment course must be completed. Have the desire and ability to bring your experiences into play for the benefit of others.

Have good collaboration skills and an appreciative approach to other people.

There are no formal educational requirements for you, but it is an advantage if you have a peer training/course and experience with peer work. You will be introduced to peer support and recovery theory by PsykInfo and to the work in general in the unit you will work in.

It is a requirement that you have a driver’s license.

We offer

Support from peer colleagues in Psychiatry West and a mentor from District Psychiatry Holbæk.

You will receive supervision together with the staff group in your unit. You will be linked to a common peer-exchange forum for all peer workers in Psychiatry Region Zealand. You will handle minor administrative tasks such as communicating with colleagues via email and Outlook calendar. If you do not have a peer qualification, there will be an opportunity to obtain peer qualifications via PsykInfo within the first year of employment.

We can offer you a workplace where we strive to take care of the patients and each other. In this context it is important that the staff group possess empathy and social understanding, the ability to remain calm in stressful situations, prioritize dialogue, where smiles and humor can often be a good leverage.

You will become part of Psychiatry West under Mid- and West Zealand Hospital

An organization in development with about 520 employees. In the West there are main functions for adults over 17 years within acute reception, 24-hour and outpatient functions. Psychiatry West also has special functions in the treatment of affective disorders, traumatized refugees, PTSD and oligophrenia. We have a Fusion Clinic/Steno diabetes-psychiatry unit and work especially closely with Holbæk and Slagelse hospitals.

Psychiatry West has its own research unit with a professor of clinical pharmacology and several PhD students. In addition, we participate in a number of projects aimed at ensuring closer cooperation with our municipalities and police. We work purposefully to reduce the use of coercion and the collaboration with somatics is also important. Our wish is a psychiatry focused on recovery, involvement of patients and networks, high professionalism, ethics and education.

In addition, we aim to create the best possible learning environments for our various training programs for doctors, nurses, social and health care assistants, etc., and ensure a healthy and safe working environment for patients and staff.
