About the job

Our skilled physiotherapist is going on maternity leave and therefore we are seeking a capable maternity leave replacement. Are you a physiotherapist and do you want to support soldiers in a physically demanding daily life? Can you see yourself advising a military commander and treating a soldier? And do you thrive in a versatile role where professionalism, responsibility and community go hand in hand?

So read on!

About us

Center for Military Physical Training is a part of the Defence Health Capacity and functions as the Defence's overall competence center within, among other things, physical training, physiotherapy and load management. We train and guide both individuals and units to achieve and maintain physical operational readiness.

Our staff are both civilian and military. We are based at Svanemøllen Barracks in Copenhagen, but we are present across Denmark. Today we are 15 physiotherapists – and that number continues to grow.

We work to ensure that the Defence's soldiers have the necessary physical capacity, resilience and knowledge to perform in demanding operational environments – and at the same time prevent injuries and strains.

About the position

You will have the opportunity to work with soldiers close to their operational daily life.

Your daily base will be at Haderslev Barracks, but you must be prepared to provide support across the region's other service locations for shorter or longer periods.

What will you work with?

As part of a skilled team, your tasks will be

  • Evaluation, advice and treatment of soldiers with physical issues
  • Advice and sparring with managers and coaches on training, load management and recovery
  • Teaching soldiers in injury prevention and physical robustness
  • Participation in multidisciplinary collaboration and professional networks
  • Outreach work in the field – we meet the soldier where the task is

You will also, when needed, contribute with professional assessment in connection with health assessments.

You will be part of the national network of physiotherapists under the Center for Military Physical Training and will participate in professional knowledge sharing and ongoing competence development.

About you

A qualified physiotherapist and motivated to make a difference in a practical and meaningful daily life. You want to work with soldiers – both preventive and therapeutic – and you thrive in an environment where responsibility, collaboration and professional development are in focus.

We emphasize that you

  • Have experience with treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries
  • Are accustomed to teaching – including larger groups – and can convey professional knowledge clearly and engagingly
  • Have an understanding of physical training and load management
  • Are good at collaborating across disciplines, but can also work independently
  • Have structure and overview in a daily life with many different tasks
  • Thrive on outreach work – both in the treatment room and out with the units

In addition we expect that you

  • Have a driver's license (category B is a requirement)
  • Are eager to be part of a professional community and share your knowledge with colleagues across the country

Familiarity with the Defence or prior experience, e.g., from military service, is an advantage but not a requirement.

Employment terms

Employment is governed by the currently applicable collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (The Academics' Collective Agreement).

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is a possibility for negotiation of a supplement. There is an employer-funded pension scheme linked to the position.

The fixed workplace is at Haderslev Barracks.

As an employee under the Defence Ministry's area you are subject to certain special terms. You must, among other things, be able to obtain security clearance and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment.

You have as an employee a duty to render service outside the country, including at units in international operations with a view to participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peace-enforcing, humanitarian and other similar operations.
