Play, music and clear support for a girl with Down syndrome

Do you have experience with Down syndrome – and a desire to create meaningful activities in a 1:1 relationship?

About the task

The young woman is often cheerful and lively and loves music, dance and drawing. She enjoys mischief and fun and thrives in social settings where there is room for laughter and movement. She has Down syndrome and a functioning level corresponding to about 4 years.

She is easily influenced by sounds and moods around her. She may have difficulty expressing herself, speaks unclearly and has a limited vocabulary. Therefore she needs an adult who provides concrete instructions and clear messages and helps her understand what is going to happen – and when. She needs support to start and to stay engaged in activities so that she has good and meaningful experiences.

Your task is to be with her in activities such as dancing, singing, drawing and going on smaller trips out of the house. In time it may also be relevant to go to the swimming pool. You support her in transitions and help create calm if she becomes frustrated or sad. The task also involves guidance and assistance with toilet visits.

About you

You are a trained pedagogue and have experience with Down syndrome. You adapt your communication, use short and concrete messages and support understanding and participation.

You can create structure in an activity and at the same time be actively participating. You dare to be in the playful and give something of yourself when you dance or sing, and you maintain calm when she becomes frustrated.

Working hours

The position is 8 hours per month, which can be arranged flexibly according to your wishes. It can be both weekdays and weekends as well as day- or evening hours. On weekdays the shift will be after 3:00 PM.

You will become part of a family-owned company with lots of dedicated employees. You have a fixed advisor whom you can always consult. Outside office hours there is always a staffed on-call phone, so you are never alone. Salary and pension in accordance with the National Collective Agreement entered into between FOA and Dansk Erhverv. You are covered by DUOS’ liability and work injury insurance and health insurance is part of your pension scheme.
