About the job

Do you have experience with autism and a calm, clear approach? Then you can help create safe and enjoyable afternoons for an active boy who needs support for play and activities.

About the task

We are seeking a staff member for a curious and active boy with infantile autism. He is open to new people and loves playing with cars, LEGO, balls and animals. He also likes drawing, looking at books and playing with playdough, and he enjoys going outside and moving around.

The boy has a limited verbal language and needs clear guidance, structure and predictability. He follows a fixed routine after school, which is important to base your work on. He can be sensitive to sounds and may react physically when he becomes frustrated or overwhelmed. Here, he needs a staff member who can stay calm, read his signals and help him regain calm.

Your task is to create safe surroundings for play and social time based on his interests and fixed structure. You can, for example, play at home or go to the playground or football field in the local area. The boy is very active and has limited understanding of dangers, so it is important that you are attentive and able to follow him closely, especially when you are outside.

The task also includes support for basic needs and personal care, including diaper changes.

About you

We are looking for a trained pedagogue or someone with solid experience working with children with autism and special needs.

You have experience with emotional regulation and handling situations where a child may react physically. You work calmly and affirmingly, are clear in your communication and can create predictable surroundings. At the same time, you are attentive to the child’s signals and can adapt the activities to his needs.

It is important that you can actively participate in play and movement while maintaining an overview in situations that require quick action.

Working hours

The position is 3 hours per week.

You work either on Mondays or Tuesdays from 13:00 to 16:00.

We offer

You will become part of a family-owned company with many dedicated employees. You will have a fixed advisor whom you can always consult. Outside office hours there is always a staffed on-call phone, so you are never alone. Salary and pension in accordance with the National Agreement for handicapped assistance in the citizen’s own home (minus BPA) made between FOA and Dansk Erhverv. You are covered by DUOS’ liability and work injury insurance and health insurance is part of your pension scheme.

You will receive relevant introduction and ongoing upskilling - and you will not be able to avoid developing yourself both personally and professionally when you work with people with us at DUOS.
