About the position

As a project manager in the repair department you will be responsible for repair tasks and daily service tasks and spend about 50% of the time in the office and 50% in the dry dock. You will have daily contact with the customer throughout the project – from docking to final invoicing. You must ensure that projects are completed according to the agreed schedule, monitor the finances and verify that the work is performed according to the agreed specifications in collaboration with the customer and classification societies or the Danish Maritime Authority.

Primary duties as project manager

• Inspection of tasks, preparation of calculations, offers, specifications and contracts
• Operational responsibility for repair of individual ships, where you as project manager ensure that your projects are carried out within the economic, time and contractual frameworks – typically 2-3 weeks duration
• Coordination of purchases and service provisions from subcontractors in collaboration with the warehouse and procurement departments
• Coordination of the individual tasks and management of employees and subcontractors
• Conduct project meetings with the customer, classification societies, relevant foremen and staff
• Responsible for budget monitoring, resources, time usage, schedule, preparation of repair reports and invoicing
• Follow-up after the project is completed, nurturing customer relations and follow-up sales

Your profile

You are likely trained as a marine engineer, engineer or have a similar technical education, as well as craftsmanship experience

• Have broad technical knowledge and project experience within the maritime or similar industry, preferably with knowledge of docking and maintenance of ships of various sizes
• Have experience as a project manager, inspector/superintendent, marine engineer, service engineer or similar in the maritime industry – preferably from a shipping company
• Have good business sense, control of finances, schedules and specifications
• Are structured, efficient and flexible, as working hours depend on the projects. Some weekend work can be expected, which is agreed mutually in the repairs department
• Used to working in IT systems – we use C5 as ERP system and RobEx for project management

The P&S Shipyard offers docking of ships. Our yard is located in Svendborg on Funen with good sailing conditions. We offer all relevant shipbuilding works, engine repairs, surface treatments with sandblasting or UHP cleaning (jet blasting of the ship’s bottom), where work is performed with up to 3,000 bar.

At P&S Shipyard A/S we are known for our professional competencies when it comes to engine repair. We have extensive knowledge of both new and old engines, and we currently work in new workshops on Frederiksøen in Svendborg.

With our location in the town of Svendborg, we also have a large supplier network, where, as a yard, we draw on expertise in electronics, ship electrical, cooling technicians, hydraulics and rigging workshop. We have our own electrical department as well as outfitting carpentry.

All relevant classification societies, including Bureau Veritas, Lloyd’s Register, DNV/GL and Rina, have offices nearby.
