About the job
Are you a psychologist and are you passionate about the autism field, then you might be the one we are looking for...
”A team has asked for your help. A student often becomes unsettled in the transition from one activity to another. The student does not have verbal speech and shows their unsettled state by tensing their body, pushing materials away and showing frustration. The staff know the student well and have already tried to make the transitions more recognizable, but are unsure about what the student needs.
The situation becomes the starting point for a joint inquiry. The team contributes their knowledge of the student’s small signals, and the parents tell of similar situations at home. Together with your colleagues in the guidance team you ensure the multidisciplinary view by examining, among other things, communication, sensory impressions, interaction with the adults, and the connection between the student’s developmental level, emotional state and the demands the student faces, which can have significance. You go with them into everyday life. See, listen and ask.
Together you agree on a few changes, which the team tests in daily life. Perhaps the student needs more time to respond, fewer stimuli, or a more concrete way to understand the next activity. You follow up on the small signs: Does the student relax more in the body? Does the student seek contact? Does it become easier to follow along? The observations help you adjust the intervention and find the next step together.”
That is how a task can begin for you as a psychologist at Bakkeskolen. You come close to the students and the adults around them and get the opportunity to see how your shared understanding becomes action in daily life. You become part of a multidisciplinary community where you investigate, wonder, and find ways forward together. Here the small signals are important, and even a small change can have a big impact on the student’s ability to feel safe, participate, and develop.
Does that sound exciting? Then read on 😊
Can you recognise yourself in these questions
- Am I motivated by understanding children and young people whose development and ways of communicating require special autism expertise and curiosity?
- Do I want to bring my psychological expertise close to the pedagogical practice?
- Do I thrive in examining complex problems together with other professional groups?
- Can I translate observations, investigations and professional knowledge into something that students, parents and staff can use?
- Do I want to be a visible part of a school and follow development over time?
Then you might be our new psychologist.
About us
Bakkeskolen is a special school for 75 children and adolescents with developmental disorders within the autism spectrum and concurrent conditions and diagnoses. The students have different cognitive prerequisites and support needs, and all have some degree of intellectual disability. This requires that we are curious about each student and continuously adapt our understanding and practice.
You will become part of the school’s guidance team and will collaborate closely with among others the educational guidance counselor, occupational therapist and speech-language pathologist. In addition you will collaborate with the school's teachers, pedagogues, assistants and management.
We offer a specialized professional environment with committed colleagues who are happy to share doubts, experiences and good ideas. There is room to ask questions, explore new possibilities, and shape the tasks with your professional skills.
You will have the opportunity for professional development through relevant courses, supervision and networks. This includes
- Supervision in a small group with psychologists from Gladsaxe PPR every two weeks.
- Ongoing interdisciplinary supervision with an external psychologist on the role as internal supervisor.
- Opportunity to participate in professional networks with psychologists at other special schools.
About you
You are a trained psychologist and want to work practically with children and young people with autism and complex support needs. You are professionally solid and at the same time open to your understanding developing in meeting the student, the family and your colleagues.
It is an advantage if you have experience with the autism field, ADHD, neuropsychology and psychological assessment methods. We also care about how you use your knowledge: that you can make it understandable, relevant and usable for those who are with the students every day.
Salary and employment conditions
The position is initially a full-time role.
Salary and employment are according to current collective agreement and agreement on new pay. Working hours are primarily between 8:15 and 16:25. Meetings and courses may take place in the afternoon and evening.
Start date: 1 January 2027
