About the job

We are seeking a responsible, flexible and independent prison teacher for Enner Mark Prison and Detention Centre, who wants to make a difference through teaching and contribute to giving the inmates the best conditions for a life without crime. Is that you? then read on.

Your responsibilities

  • You are trained as a teacher and can teach mathematics – at AVU level and preferably FVU level.
  • You are able to independently plan and carry out your teaching tasks, and you stand solid in your subject knowledge.
  • You have a desire to teach inmates who have often lost faith in their own scholarly abilities.
  • You can demonstrate tolerance – both professionally and personally – and have a positive view of people, respect for the individual and an interest in crime prevention work.
  • You can respect a strictly structured prison environment where order and safety are key words, and where the job requires various security and risk assessments during your workday.
  • You can maintain an overview and are responsible, as well as capable of showing determination.
  • You are good at communicating with both inmates and colleagues from different professional groups.

About you

You should be keen to work with teaching in a daily life characterized by change and challenges, and with students who differ significantly from many other student groups, but who also provide many positive experiences.

You will participate in collaboration with the prison's other staff in a workplace characterized by a good working environment.

We emphasize that respect for the individual is the starting point, and that work is conducted in a holistic- and solution-oriented manner with regard to the challenges that arise and the tasks that need to be solved.

About the job

Teaching takes place in small groups and in some cases individually. It is planned taking into account the prison’s different regimes and security frameworks. Internet access is limited, which is why teaching mainly takes place in analog form.

Your core task will be mathematics teaching at AVU and FVU levels with a focus on the inmates' academic development and individual prerequisites. As a teacher you are responsible for testing, placement at the right level, teaching in small groups, updating action plans and administrative tasks related to the teaching. It is important that you can create structure, motivation and a safe learning environment where the inmates have the opportunity to develop their academic skills.

You will become part of an interdisciplinary collaboration with fellow teachers, counselors, social workers, prison officers, workshop masters and other professional groups across the prison. Collaboration is central to supporting the inmates' learning and progression.

We offer

  • a thorough introduction to the work and the workplace
  • to become part of a workplace that pulls together, aimed at making a difference for the inmates
  • a daily life characterized by changes and challenges, but also a warm and humorous approach to each other
  • interdisciplinary collaboration
  • professional sparring across Denmark's Prisons

Salary and employment terms

Employment and remuneration are in accordance with the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Union of Teachers and CO10, as well as the organizational agreement for prison teachers and the local agreements thereto. In addition, supplements may be agreed depending on experience and qualifications.

  • The position is a full-time position with an average of 37 hours per week
  • The employment sector is Denmark's Prisons
  • The workplace is located at Frodesdalsvej 3, 8700 Horsens
