About the job

Relationally strong support persons with life experience and empathy sought for a woman in Randers Municipality

We are seeking several female support persons for a newly started team around a woman in Randers Municipality, who receives support under the Social Services Act §85. You will typically have 1-2 shifts per week.

We are looking for you who

  • finds great meaning in helping a person move from adversity to thriving
  • would love to have a cat as the daily leader (according to the cat itself)
  • think it’s cool that your work sometimes consists of going to sci-fi conventions or flea markets
  • also can thrive on days where your most important task is to lend your calm nervous system and simply be attentively present
  • are curious and ready to learn something new

Who misses someone like you?

You will support an autistic woman in her 40s who, despite trauma and considerable adversity in life, has a persistent drive to create a life with joy, good relationships, meaningful content, and plenty of pancakes.

She is intelligent and reflective and interested in other people, the surrounding society, a good laugh and many other things.

She is creative and writes poems, has co-authored a couple of books, gives talks and teaches together with professionals, and also enjoys a trip to XL Byg to satisfy her inner do-it-yourself woman.

She has many resources and can do a lot when the right support helps her maximize her resources and develop where she can.

What does she need from you?

She needs to borrow your calm nervous system, so that over time she can achieve more calm in her own nervous system, which due to complex trauma is most of the time in a heightened state of alert.

You can, with your own life experience and professional competencies, work relationally and understand that a good and safe relationship is the cornerstone for succeeding in supporting her back to thriving.

She needs you to support her in utilizing the resources she has, and understands the importance of following her and collaborating with her instead of trying to control and take over.

You understand that your workplace is in another person’s private home and you respect this.

What does a typical workday look like?

The days vary a lot depending on the citizen’s mood.

Your constant focus is, regardless of mood, to be a safe and calm support, even when she is overwhelmed and finds the world hard to grasp.

You help her with everyday tasks such as shopping and cooking, cleaning, planning, and creating overview.

The citizen used to be very active, and as the effort has properly started there will be accompaniment and support for weekly physiotherapy and riding therapy, voluntary work, and various health agreements.

She has a strong desire to expand her social network, which will also be a focus in your collaboration to find opportunities.

Who is she looking for?

She is seeking a woman 40+, who desires a job where the relationship is the cornerstone for success.

An open, honest and curious person who wants and is able to reflect on their own practice.

Since the support is provided every day of the week year-round from 7-23, she is looking for someone who accepts that some years you may need to work Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve.

She seeks a person who wants and is able to work independently in 16-hour shifts while also being part of a small team and understands the importance of working together with colleagues as a team.

Collaboration, stability and good communication both in the team, with the citizen and with management are crucial to create a safe and coherent support and to succeed with the effort.

Who do we imagine you are?

  • Woman 40+
  • Open, honest, transparent and congruent
  • As a citizen would say: “she should not just be a professional cardboard figure”, we expect you to have a desire to enter into a personal (not private) relationship with her, where you can make relevant use of your professional competencies as a supplement to the personal relationship.
  • You have a social pedagogical or other suitably relevant education or experience.
  • Experience in collaborating with autistic people and/or people with trauma is a plus but not required.
  • The support takes place in a smoke- and perfume-free environment, so we expect you not to bring cigarette odor or perfume into the home, just as it is not possible to smoke or vape during working hours.
  • You meet her with respect for her boundaries and self-determination - she is not looking for a “backup mother”.
  • You must be comfortable with hugs and close contact, as the citizen needs this from you to help regulate her own nervous system.
  • Driver’s license B and a clean criminal record are both requirements.
  • You must have your own transport, as public transport is not available near the citizen’s home

We do not expect you to know everything from the start, but you should be willing to learn and approach the task with an open, curious and reflective mind.

What can you expect from us?

You will be well introduced to the task with, among other things, professional training conducted by the citizen’s psychologist and on-the-job training before you first work a shift alone with the citizen.

Because the citizen has been without relevant support for a long time, she needs an escalation of time, so you do not start directly on 16-hour shifts. The pace of time escalation is agreed individually in collaboration with the citizen, colleagues and management.

There will also be supervision and team meetings.

Salary and employment

You will be employed through Din Hjælperordning, and the salary is set according to qualifications and relevant experience.

Your working hours after onboarding and ramp-up will consist of 16-hour shifts between 7-23, as well as on-call shifts by phone (from your own home) between 23-7.

Does this task sound like something for you?

If you can see yourself in a task where the relationship, patience and the human approach are at least as important as the practical tasks, we would love to hear from you.

Apply via the link, and tell us a little about yourself, your experience and why you think you would fit well for the task.

Interviews will be held with the citizen, management and a future colleague in the citizen’s home.
