You now have the opportunity to become our new colleague in the Department of Anaesthesia, Pain and Respiratory Support at Rigshospitalet-Valdemar Hansens Vej in Glostrup in a shift-free, unclassified position as a resident doctor.

Who are we: The Department of Anaesthesia, Pain and Respiratory Support (BSR) consists of 3 units with four wards, of which the first 3 are located at Valdemar Hansens Vej (VHV) in Glostrup.

Anaesthesia Valdemar Hansens Vej, which consists of

  • Department of Anaesthesia
  • Department of Recovery and Operation.

Respiratory Center East

Multidisciplinary Pain Center located on Ole Maaløes Vej.

Who we are looking for: A young physician with an interest in the specialty of anaesthesiology, who wishes to be employed in our Anaesthesia unit with departments for Anaesthesia, Recovery and Operation, with daytime shifts on weekdays and who would like to engage in teaching, development and research.

It will be a prerequisite that you have completed an introduction to the specialty of anaesthesiology at the time of employment. In addition, competencies within research, innovation and teaching will be considered advantageous.

There may be the possibility of part-time employment depending on the applicant's preferences.

The interviews can elaborate on this and your thoughts and considerations about the position can be discussed.

About the Anaesthesia Unit The unit provides anaesthesia for planned and emergency eye surgeries and for degenerative spine conditions.

The department is large and well-functioning and performs about 6000 anaesthesias annually, of which almost 500 are for children over two years. We serve 11 operating theatres every weekday.

In addition we provide anaesthesia for MR scans, dental treatment, insertion of PEG tubes and ECT treatments.

We have a strong focus on optimized perioperative pathways, high patient safety and satisfaction.

Your tasks in Anaesthesia Your duties in the department will primarily be on the operating room, the perioperative clinic and the Day Surgery and Recovery Unit. With us you will work with and gain insight into all stages of the perioperative pathway and have the opportunity to develop competence in classic anaesthesia techniques. You will become part of an experienced team that supports your professional development and there can be offered, among other things, systematic training in asleep fiberoptic intubation and the insertion of a blood patch, thereby expanding the role as a medical expert.

You are expected to participate and be engaged in optimizing patient pathways and to participate in and lead teaching in the department. You must be driven by curiosity and have a natural desire to work in a team together with the department's other staff as well as staff from the surgical departments.

There are two clinical lectures attached to the department, which receive medical students in their 3rd and 8th semesters. There will be opportunities to coordinate and supervise the teaching of our medical students in close collaboration with the department's clinical lecturers. Thus you will, in addition to extensive teaching experience, strengthen your role as leader/administrator/organizer. The department also conducts training of doctors from other departments and thus provides experience with both pre- and post-graduate teaching.

The physicians in the anaesthesia unit participate in on-call (MAT) in the neurological emergency department and in the wards and also function as team leaders on the heart-stopping unit. The resident will not perform on-call duties independently, but may perform on-call related tasks under supervision of a consultant during daytime on weekdays.

The anaesthesia staff currently consists of 12 specialists and 3 residents and is led by a chief physician. The working hours for resident doctors are 07:45-15:09 on weekdays.

What else can we offer you as our new colleague? A professionally and socially good working environment that we cherish. We have created an unit where there is room for professional discussions, and where everyone is prepared to share the task and contribute to making the day run smoothly.

Our focus is always to create value for the patient, and to strive to refine and develop our workflows to become even better at providing the best treatment.

You will have the opportunity to have a varied everyday life with tasks that span wide. You will be thoroughly introduced and informed about all functions when you start. During the 1-year position you will be offered about 1 day per month equivalent to 10 educational days, which can be arranged according to your choice. Either the days can be used to work on a research project based on your interests and the department's focus areas under the supervision of the department's clinical lecturers.

Or you can choose to use the days on a development project with academic immersion in e.g. pediatric anaesthesia, conference participation, a focused stay in another unit in BSR or another department at Rigshospitalet after specific agreement.

You will have the chance to show up with a high spirit, a great opportunity to influence your daily life and with your professional engagement contribute to the unit and also to strengthen your CV toward applying for specialization in Anaesthesiology.

Salary and employment conditions in accordance with the applicable collective agreement for junior doctors in Regions.

The application is written according to your competencies within the 7 medical roles, cf. the Health Authority's publication "The 7 Medical Roles", and you are asked to attach your CV and proof of authorization in Denmark.

The Chief Physician of Anaesthesia will be your nearest supervisor.
