Who are we looking for

A young doctor with an interest in the specialty of anesthesiology, who desires employment in our Anesthesia unit with sections for Anesthesia, Recovery and Operation with daytime service on weekdays and who wishes to engage in teaching, development and research.

It will be a prerequisite that at the time of employment you have completed an introductory rotation in the specialty of anesthesiology. Complementary competencies in research, innovation and teaching will be viewed as advantageous.

There may be an option for part-time employment depending on the applicant's preferences.

For interviews this can be elaborated and your thoughts and reflections about the position discussed.

About the Anesthesia Unit

The unit provides anesthesia for planned and acute surgeries for eye diseases and degenerative spinal diseases.

The department is large and well-functioning and performs about 6000 anesthesia cases annually, of which just under 500 for children over two years. We service 11 operating rooms every weekday.

We also provide anesthesia for MR scans, dental treatments, insertion of PEG tubes and ECT treatments.

We have a strong focus on optimized perioperative pathways, high patient safety and satisfaction.

Your tasks in Anesthesia

Your tasks in the department will primarily be on the operating theaters, the perioperative clinic and the Day Surgery and Recovery Section. With us you will work with and gain insight into all phases of the perioperative process and have the opportunity to develop competence in classic anesthesia techniques. You will become part of an experienced team that supports your professional development and can offer, among other things, systematic training in asleep fiberoptic intubation and the placement of a blood patch, thereby expanding the role as a medical expert.

You are expected to participate and be engaged in optimizing patient pathways and to participate in and lead teaching in the department. You should be driven by curiosity and have a natural desire to work in a team with the rest of the department staff and staff from the surgical departments.

There are two clinical lectures attached to the department, receiving 3rd and 8th semester medical students. There will be opportunity to coordinate and oversee the teaching of our medical students in close collaboration with the department's clinical lecturers. Thus, in addition to extensive teaching experience you will strengthen the role as leader/administrator/organizer. The department also educates physicians from other departments, thus providing experience with both pre- and postgraduate teaching.

The consultants in the department participate in acute call (MAT) in the neurological emergency department and in the inpatient wards and also serve as team leaders on the cardiac standby. The resident will not carry out on-call duties independently, but can perform on-call related tasks under supervision of a specialist during daytime on weekdays.

The medical staff in Anesthesia currently consists of 12 specialists and 3 residents and is led by a chief physician. Working hours for residents are 07:45-15:09 on weekdays.

What more can we offer you as our new colleague?

A professionally and socially good working environment that we value. We have created a unit where there is room for professional discussions, and where everyone is prepared to be collectively responsible for the task and contribute to making the day run smoothly.

Our focus is always to create value for the patient, and to strive to refine and develop our workflows to become even better at providing the best treatment.

You will have the opportunity for a varied daily life with tasks spanning a wide range. You will be thoroughly introduced and trained in all functions when you start. During the 1-year position you will be offered about 1 day per month corresponding to 10 training days, which can be arranged according to your choice. Either the days can be used to work on a research project based on your interests and the department's focus areas under the guidance of the department's clinical professors.

Or you can choose to use the days on a development project with professional deepening in e.g. pediatric anesthesiology, conference participation, a focused stay in another section in BSR or another department at Rigshospitalet after specific agreement.

You will have the chance to come in with high spirits, a great opportunity to shape your daily life and with your professional engagement contribute to the unit and also the chance to strengthen your CV for applications to the main specialty training in Anesthesiology.

Salary and employment conditions in accordance with the applicable collective agreement for junior doctors in the Regions.

The application should be structured according to your competencies within the 7 doctor roles, in line with the Health Authority's publication "The 7 Doctor Roles", and you are asked to attach a CV and proof of authorization in Denmark.

The chief physician for Anesthesia will be your immediate supervisor.
