Kirke Helsinge School and Children's House is in a positive development with strong foundations to build on. We are looking for a principal who has courage and a desire for professional leadership, and who can maintain the good direction with respect for what already works. You must be able to follow up on the school's values of professionalism, communities and imagination and at the same time translate them into clear direction, concrete actions and good results for both the school and the children's house.

We are a staff group with diverse backgrounds, experience and competences, and what unites us is humor, helpfulness and a strong wish to succeed together. We need a leader who embraces students, parents and staff, and who with an inclusive leadership style creates buy-in, security and clear expectations. You see value in both large and small recognitions in everyday life, and you are present with children and adults.

It is important to us that you can create an overview, structure and momentum, so ideas and plans are brought to fruition with a good result. You have insight into planning and financial management and can prioritise wisely in daily life. You know the importance of delegating, following up and creating a shared direction, and you have both theoretical and practical understanding of the staff's everyday life and of learning environments where creativity and professionalism go hand in hand.

To succeed in the job you must rest naturally in your informal authority and at the same time have leadership power. You can set a clear direction, be bold in professional leadership and at the same time respect the pride, culture and positive development that is already at Kirke Helsinge School and Children's House. You see opportunities to further develop the school's active outdoor life and to strengthen collaboration with other schools – especially the neighboring school Gørlev School – when it can create value for children, staff and parents.

Good communication and visibility are essential elements in the principal position. We need a leader who is visible internally at the school and in the children's house – and who at the same time is an active and present part of the close local community around us. Students should know you, parents should experience you as accessible, and staff should feel that you are close to practice. You have natural authority, an eye for strong relationships and a good sense of diversity among both children, parents and staff.

Timeline for the recruitment

Applications must be uploaded no later than October 25, 2026, via the link on Kalundborg Municipality’s website.

The October 28, 2026 the appointments committee will decide who is invited to the 1st interview round. The selected applicants will be notified the same day.

The 1st interview round will be held on November 3, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The competency profile for applicants advancing to the 2nd interview round will be held in week 46 . Feedback will take about 1.5 hours.

The 2nd interview round will be held on November 17, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The applicant is expected to assume the position on January 1, 2027.
