About the job

You can now become part of our strong leadership group, where you will never stand alone as a leader, and where you will have the opportunity to develop your leadership competencies. The position is combined with a five-year externally funded position as clinical professor of gynecology and obstetrics.

Over the past years we have been in rapid development and created a professional community that is now so strong that we can make a difference where it is most needed.

Our department has the unique characteristic that we are both a university department with regional and highly specialized functions and at the same time bear broad population responsibility out into the eastern part of Zealand’s geographies and peripheral areas. In recent years we have therefore developed our organization to both deliver diagnosis and treatment of the highest quality while also taking care of multisick and vulnerable patients. For us, it is truly meaningful, and it has become part of our DNA. We do this by lifting the responsibility together, cross-disciplinary and geographically across.

About the job

As chief physician at Zealand University Hospital you will, in close collaboration with the rest of the leadership team, ensure the professional organization, development and quality within both gynecology, obstetrics and medical further education.

You will be the line manager for our research team. The team is an interdisciplinary group across all three sites. We hope you are ready to work with the team’s direction, security and sense of community. At the same time, it is very important that you have an eye for the fact that we only succeed in collaboration with our closest colleagues in the rest of the staff group. The interdisciplinary collaboration is absolutely essential.

Your team will have the responsibility for good and intelligent research operations of the department with an eye for the whole department across all sites. Here your innovative and collaborative abilities are truly important. We will go far to contribute to women’s health and to ensure that women from our entire catchment area can give birth safely and closely, while we use our resources wisely. It requires rethinking, telemedicine, flexibility and not least patience.

About you

  • You are a clinical professor.
  • You have an eye for both social and geographical inequality and want to help ensure that all citizens in the country receive the right services and the best treatment. You think it is important that specialized treatment is brought closer to the citizens.
  • You want to develop professionally together with others.
  • You have a pioneering spirit and thrive on getting others to flourish.
  • You want to help build a strong professional and research environment.
  • You dream that everyone has influence over their working conditions because it provides job satisfaction and a sustainable working life. At the same time, you have the mindset that everyone should contribute to a healthy community and collaborate with colleagues about our shared patients across our catchment area.

About the department Roskilde and Nykøbing Falster

Since January 2024, Zealand University Hospital has merged with Nykøbing Falster Hospital, and for us that means gynecology and obstetrics is now one consolidated department with one departmental leadership on three sites (Roskilde, Køge and Nykøbing Falster). Therefore we now have a larger department and an opportunity to take an even greater responsibility for citizens in Zealand.

We have about 3,300 births. We handle preterm births from week 28 and perform prenatal diagnostics, and we take care of pregnancies with complicated courses, e.g. twin pregnancies and medically high-risk pregnancies.

The department has regional functions in urogynecology, a significant general gynecological activity, a highly specialized function in the treatment of uterine cancer, and handles treatment of infertility at the fertility clinic in Køge.

We have access to six operating rooms per week on the central operating suite and six operating rooms per week in the day surgery department at the Roskilde site. In Nykøbing Falster we have four and a half operating slots per week. We have robot slots several days a week. In the gynecological outpatient clinic we have substantial activity and perform minor ambulatory procedures in close collaboration with our specially trained nurses.

Our site in Roskilde moves to the New SUH in Køge in 2028.

The department participates in a on-call arrangement with Greenland.

We offer among other things

  • A good working environment with focus on well-being, also for leaders
  • Opportunity for professional development and continuing education
  • Close leadership coaching for difficult conversations and dilemmas
  • Opportunity for flexibility, administrative days and days working from home
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration and plenty of professional sparring

As chief physician you report to the department leadership.

Salary and employment terms

The position is available for appointment from 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The application deadline is 16 November 2026. We expect to hold interviews on an ongoing basis.
