About the job

Work hands-on with hardware development and help solve the technically challenging challenges in products where precision and robustness are crucial.

Apply

Take technical ownership of hardware that must deliver precise measurements in demanding industrial environments.

PR electronics develops electronics for industrial signal processing, and it imposes somewhat different requirements than classic digital product development. Here you work with small signals, precision measurements, and products that must function stably in demanding industrial environments.

Therefore PR electronics is looking for an experienced hardware profile who can drive the technical side of development projects and be a strong professional sparring partner for the other engineers.

From concept to a product that can be produced

You will become part of the new development and follow the products through a large part of their life from the first technical concepts to testing and ramp-up in production.

It can start with a product outline containing a number of business requirements. From here you will help assess how the product can actually be realized, make hardware decisions, and maintain the technical direction as the solution takes shape.

Development typically takes place without direct involvement from customers, but in close collaboration with Product Managers who bring market needs and requirements into the development work. This means you must be able to translate high-level product and market needs into concrete technical solutions that both work in practice and create value for customers.

You will among other things be working with analog electronics, measurement technology, signal processing, and hardware design. You also need to be able to see your own design in a larger context with firmware, testing, EMC, mechanics and production.

The role is technical. The project manager keeps track of the project, while you are one of those who can go far enough into the technical details to challenge solutions and drive the difficult professional decisions.

And you should still enjoy getting your hands dirty with the hardware. At PR electronics development, testing and production are closely integrated, so you can move from a technical discussion to the lab or production and see if the solution actually holds up.

The team and your nearest manager

You will become part of a new development team of about 12 people with competencies in hardware, firmware and mechanics as well as project management. When a new product is to be developed, a project team is assembled across disciplines, and you will typically have a main project while also serving as a technical sparring partner for other projects.

Your nearest manager is the Engineering Manager and comes from a technical background closely related to the type of role you enter. The leadership style is informal and delegating with a focus on collaboration, progress and clear expectations.

As an experienced engineer you will have space to make technical choices yourself and set the direction within your area. Your manager can challenge and spar with the technique, but it is you who brings the solution.

The professional profile

The most important part of your foundation is experience with electronics development and hardware design.

We especially imagine that you

  • have worked professionally with analog electronics, measurement technology, signal processing, or similar hardware where precision and robustness matter
  • can take technical ownership and relatively quickly drive your part of a development project independently
  • understand the interplay between hardware and firmware
  • have enough experience to also contribute with technical sparring when less experienced colleagues face a professional challenge

There are several younger engineers in the organization, so your experience will naturally be used in the technical discussions along the way. It is not a leadership or mentoring role in the formal sense, but you should be willing to share your knowledge and be a colleague others can turn to for solutions.

Experience with EMC, test equipment, industrialization or electronics production is relevant, but the decisive factor is technical depth.

The difficult and the good

The difficult part is also what makes the role interesting.

PR electronics operates in a technical niche where analog electronics, precision measurement, and noise-sensitive signals occupy more space than in many other electronics companies. You will therefore not necessarily join as an expert in everything from day one.

On the other hand, you will have the opportunity to work intensively with new development. A separate Product Lifecycle Engineering function handles a large part of the work on existing products, so the development team can focus on new products.

At the same time you are not alone with the technical ramp-up. The other experienced engineers in the company act as professional sparring partners, so you can quickly get into the products, the technology and the particular requirements that come with PR electronics’ solutions.

At the same time, design, development, testing and a substantial part of production take place at the same address in Rønde. This provides a short path from your circuit on the screen to a physical product that must be tested and later produced stably.

About PR electronics

PR electronics develops and manufactures equipment for industrial signal processing for process and factory automation. The company has more than 200 employees and customers around the world.

The headquarters is in Rønde, where the products are developed, tested and produced. The other units and subsidiaries around the world are sales organizations focused on the local markets and customers. The technical development and production are thus consolidated in Rønde.

The company has been working with signal processing since 1974, and the products are used, among other things, for temperature measurement, conversion, isolation and intrinsically safe applications in industrial environments.

For this role it is important to be part of everyday life in Rønde. Much of the value lies precisely in the close access to colleagues, laboratories, testing and production.
