About the job

to the joint municipal IT company in Region Zealand

Would you, project-wise, lead one of the largest IT transformations in the municipal sector and help bring 16 municipalities' IT infrastructure together into one shared service organization?

The 16 municipalities in Region Zealand, together 833,062 inhabitants, are establishing a joint municipal IT company that will consolidate the municipalities' server and network infrastructure and operations into one robust service organization. The initiative arises from the Economic Agreement 2026 between the government and KL, and the company is established on 1 January 2027. The company is established as a joint-stock company (A/S). Since January 2026, the work has been organized as a single program with seven project streams.

The consolidation of servers, networks, operations and IT services is one of the largest IT projects in recent times in the municipal sector. Five regions are carrying out the same exercise simultaneously, and in this position you will play a key role in translating the ambitions into concrete projects, decisions and results.

About the position

As a Senior IT Project Manager you will be responsible for planning, leading and coordinating complex IT projects across the 16 municipalities. You will act as the link between management, steering committees, technicians, architects, suppliers and other stakeholders, and you will ensure progress, an overview and decision-making power in the projects.

You will be working in the establishment phase of a new organization, where the framework, governance and collaboration forms must be built up simultaneously with the large consolidation tasks that must be driven forward securely. The role therefore requires both solid project professionalism, political and organizational understanding, as well as the ability to create calm, direction and shared ownership in complex processes.

Your tasks will include, among other things

  • Plan and lead larger IT infrastructure and consolidation projects across the municipalities
  • Prepare project foundations, project plans, milestones, decision briefs and management reporting
  • Ensure clear governance, role distribution, progress and decision paths in the projects
  • Drive workshops, steering group meetings, project forums and cross-municipal clarification processes
  • Manage risks, dependencies, finances, quality, changes and realization of benefits
  • Coordinate closely with architects, operations specialists, suppliers, management and municipal key personnel
  • Support the implementation of common standards, processes and operating models
  • Contribute to the development of a professional project culture in the new organization

Your profile

You have a relevant higher education and solid experience leading complex IT projects, preferably in organizations with many stakeholders and high technical or organizational complexity. You thrive on creating structure, progress and collaboration, and you can translate strategic goals into concrete plans, decisions and deliverables.

You may already be working as a senior project manager, program manager, IT project manager or consultant. The most important for us is that you are experienced, relationally strong and confident in the role of the person who creates overview, threads the strands together and brings projects safely to completion.

It is an advantage if you have experience with some of the following areas

  • Management of larger IT infrastructure, operations or transformation projects
  • Project and program management methods such as PRINCE2, MSP, PMI, SAFe or similar
  • Steering group work, management reporting and decision briefs
  • Vendor management, contract follow-up and collaboration with external parties
  • Governance, risk management, financial follow-up and realization of benefits
  • Public sector, municipal IT or other complex enterprise environments
  • IT operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity or digital transformation

We offer

A rare opportunity to be part of the very beginning of a brand-new organization with great strategic importance for 16 municipalities.

You will play a central role in the execution of some of the most extensive IT consolidations in Denmark and have the opportunity to shape both the projects and the organization that will drive future municipal IT in Zealand.

You will be part of a professionally strong environment with a high degree of collaboration, responsibility and freedom to create results. We emphasize pragmatic problem solving, clear communication and a strong shared focus on quality, security and operations.
