Senior Specialist for Projects in Facilities and Building at Rigshospitalet – Center for Properties

Would you lead a team of project managers and help set the direction for construction and renovation projects in one of Denmark's most complex hospital organizations?

As a subject area lead for projects, you will have the professional and personnel responsibility for the project team in Operations and Buildings at Rigshospitalet.

Your main task will be to create the frameworks that enable the project managers to succeed. You must be close enough to the projects to challenge, spar and assist with prioritizations, but your responsibility is primarily to lead people and ensure quality and progress across the entire project portfolio.

You report to the head of properties and become part of the local management together with the deputy head of properties and the other professional leaders.

Leadership of people and projects

The project team carries out construction and renovation projects on Rigshospitalet’s campuses. The projects must be carried out in a hospital reality where daily operations continue while buildings are constructed, changed and developed around them.

This places requirements on both project management and the collaboration with the rest of the organization. As a subject area lead, you will help the project managers navigate this complexity. You create clear frameworks, follow up on the major projects and help make the prioritizations that ensure the team’s time and competencies are used correctly.

Your main tasks will be to

• Lead and develop the project team through professional sparring, clear expectations and ongoing follow-up
• Ensure quality and progress in the project portfolio with a view to finances, timelines and risks
• Create good frameworks for prioritization and resource allocation across the projects
• Strengthen collaboration between the project area, the technical operations, support functions and the hospital's other stakeholders
• Contribute to shared methods, workflows and quality in the way the projects are carried out

You are not alone with the overview of the portfolio. A project coordinator works closely with you on prioritization and coordination so you can focus on leading the team and the professional development of the project area.

You will also be a key sparring partner for the head of properties and the deputy head of properties and must be able to provide a clear picture of how the projects develop, and where there is a need for decisions or particular attention.

You have experience with construction projects and are keen on leadership

You bring solid experience from construction projects and project management and understand what it takes to safely move complex projects from decision to handover.

It is an advantage if you have already led project managers or other professionally strong employees. The most important thing, however, is that you have leadership experience and are motivated to achieve results through others.

You do not need to be the project manager who sits longest in every detail. On the contrary, you must be able to ask the right questions, challenge constructively and help the project managers find their way when projects become complex.

Experience with public client functions, procurement, contracts and project follow-up will be relevant because it is part of the reality you enter.

You must be able to gather different perspectives and create momentum, even when interests do not necessarily point in the same direction from the start.

At the same time you have an eye for the development of the team. Competencies, well-being and professional sparring are not something that sits alongside the projects. They are a prerequisite for the team to deliver strong results over time.

A central role in Operations and Buildings at Rigshospitalet

Operations and Buildings works with the physical framework around Rigshospitalet. This means that projects are carried out in an environment where buildings and technical installations directly affect the hospital's ability to function.

As a subject area lead for projects you therefore take on a role with many interfaces. You get close to both the technical operations, the hospital's organization, advisors and contractors, and you become part of the leadership that must ensure coherence across.

Your primary workplace will be Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, and you will also have working days at the campus in Glostrup.
