About the job

We are seeking a senior researcher whose primary task is research in nursing for the orthopedic surgical patient. Do you get energy from carrying out projects, collecting data, publishing and disseminating your knowledge? And do you thrive with a varied everyday life where research leadership, supervision tasks, PhD, postdoc supervision and evaluation work are part of the job description? Then the position may be right for you.

The position can serve for upskilling with a view to a further progression in a professorship with special duties.

We offer a position as a nursing-science senior researcher, where you will be expected to

  • Conduct independent research within your own research area relevant to the fundamental nursing care in orthopedic surgical clinical practice
  • Contribute to supporting and conducting research in the department
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the department's research in collaboration with the department leadership, other researchers and the hospital management
  • Support and qualify clinical staff's evidence-based practice through research, sparring, supervision and teaching
  • Contribute to obtaining external funding for research projects targeted at the orthopedic surgical patient pathways
  • Engage in interdisciplinary research collaboration, including projects that support interdisciplinary and cross-sector patient pathways
  • Contribute to research that supports reducing health inequality
  • Contribute to the Research Department's teaching and advisory activities for researchers across the hospital
  • Contribute to the realization of the hospital's nursing strategy

About us

The position is organizationally anchored in both the Orthopedic Surgery Department and the North Zealand Hospital Research Department. You will have your primary affiliation with the Orthopedic Surgery Department, which handles examination, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with diseases or injuries of the locomotor system. The department is part of the North Zealand Hospital perioperative research cluster across the surgical specialties and the Anesthesiology Department.

In addition, the department has close research collaboration with the North Zealand Hospital Research Department and specialties with common research interests such as the Endocrinology and Emergency Medicine Department at North Zealand Hospital. The department also has strong research collaborations at regional, national and international levels, which strengthens the synergy and sparring between researchers, improves the research infrastructure and contributes to high-quality research for the benefit of patients.

The Research Department supports research across the hospital through advisory services, research administration, method support and research dissemination. The department also runs its own research and innovation projects and has an active role in developing new solutions that strengthen patient care, organization and collaboration across the health service. The department works closely with the hospital's five research clusters and contributes to strengthening the connection between clinical practice, research and innovation.

In the position you will have close collaboration with both the department leadership in the Orthopedic Surgery Department, clinical colleagues, the hospital's researchers and the leadership in the Research Department. You thus play a central role in developing, implementing and anchoring research across clinic and research environments.

The hospital's research activities target common and widespread diseases, where the hospital can make a special effort by virtue of its function as a regional and acute hospital in the Capital Region of Denmark.

At North Zealand Hospital we strive to deliver high professional, organizational and patient-perceived quality. High professional quality is achieved by ensuring that all patient treatment is based on evidence and best clinical practice supported by research. This requires strong research environments and a targeted implementation of research results in clinical practice. We want to ensure continued growth in the hospital's scientific production and to present ourselves as an attractive research partner.

Our goal is that North Zealand Hospital will also in the future be known as a research hospital – both internally and externally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

We expect that you

  • Have a nursing background, preferably with experience within the orthopedic surgical specialty and a PhD in health sciences
  • Have qualifications in both qualitative and quantitative methods and experience with research in the development of complex interventions
  • Be an active clinical researcher with documented publications in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Have knowledge and experience with initiating and conducting mono- and multidisciplinary research activities in clinical practice
  • Have experience in applying for and obtaining external research funding
  • Have demonstrated knowledge and experience with project management and research leadership
  • Have experience in teaching, supervision and guidance, including master's and PhD students
  • Be analytical and able to work independently, in a structured and systematic way
  • Be a strong communicator with good written and oral communication skills in Danish and English and able to bridge research and clinical practice.
  • Thrive in an interdisciplinary and clinical department with a high ceiling and strong collegial cooperation

We offer

  • That you become part of the development of nursing research in the Orthopedic Surgery Department in close collaboration with the department leadership and the research management as well as the hospital's Research Department and the executive management
  • A professionally strong and ambitious research environment across specialties
  • Good opportunities for competence development and participation in research and development communities
  • That you help raise nursing research across North Zealand Hospital, including through advising and teaching
  • Possibility in time to qualify for a professorship with special duties
