About the job

Do you want to help ensure that the operation of aquaculture is conducted in an environmentally responsible manner? Do you have knowledge of the aquaculture sector and the environmental legal rules applicable to companies operating at sea? And are you eager to join a team where, with great commitment and emphasis on collaboration and good humor, we prioritise delivering high quality? Then it’s you we’re looking for.

The position

One of our skilled case handlers is going on maternity leave. Therefore we are seeking a maternity leave substitute for a period of 13 months. The position is located in the Marine Activities Office in the Danish Environmental Protection Agency (Miljøstyrelsen), where we, among other things, are responsible for approving establishment of fish farms according to the rules in the Fisheries Act and the Environmental Protection Act and for supervising the operation of fish farms. The team currently consists of seven skilled colleagues.

You will work with the following tasks

  • Make decisions on permits and approvals of fish farms.
  • Monitor the operation of fish farms.
  • Answer various inquiries from companies, citizens etc.

The task of handling applications is a central task in the position. To be able to process an application independently, you must have a solid knowledge of the rules for approval and operation of fish farms, including especially knowledge of the EU directives on nature and environmental protection.

Your profile

We expect that you

  • have a background as a marine biologist.
  • have knowledge of national rules for approval and operation of fish farms.
  • have experience with the application of the Water Framework Directive and Habitat Directive.
  • have experience with making decisions, and including knowledge of administrative law.

  • are outgoing with a positive mindset and want to contribute to our community.
  • take responsibility for the tasks, have a sense of humor and good collaboration skills.
