As a social and health care assistant trainee in Gentofte Municipality you will learn, among other things, to provide nursing and care to people with different backgrounds, histories and illness trajectories. You will learn, for example, to dose medications, treat wounds and to react if there are changes in the citizen’s health. This is for both older and younger people with physical, social and mental health challenges. We are a diverse municipality with many nationalities, cultures and social backgrounds.

You will help plan activities and treatment together with other professional groups such as nurses, social- and health care assistants, physiotherapists and doctors. You will also collaborate with specialists in areas such as hygiene, dementia, nutrition and rehabilitation.

Education The education lasts 2 years, 9 months and 3 weeks. You rotate between being at school at SOSU H and in training in Gentofte Municipality as well as Region H.

Your training takes place in a care home, home care, psychiatry and similar institutions as well as in a hospital. If you work in home care, you cycle between visits, and it is expected that you can cycle safely and provide your own bicycle and bicycle helmet.

How to apply Before you apply as a social and health care assistant trainee in Gentofte Municipality, you must either be trained as a social and health care helper, have passed basic course 2 or be in the process of completing basic course 2 at SOSU H.

REMEMBER to attach the social and health care helper certificate, basic course certificate or admission letter from SOSU H.

Salary and employment You must be in training for 37 hours per week, and you will be paid when you are in the school period and in the apprenticeship period. If you are 25 years old or older, you receive adult trainee wages.

To be employed in Gentofte Municipality you must allow us to obtain your public criminal record. If you are not a Danish citizen, you must have a valid residence and work permit.
